Slow moving from one page to another on iPad

When reading my perferred Bible on my iPad I have to wait as much as 10 seconds for the page to turn after I swipe it. Is this normal?

I have to wait as much as 10 seconds for the page to turn after I swipe it. Is this normal?

Some users have mentioned that problem. Mine generally does not. Out of curiosity:

Is your resource downloaded or online? It is downloaded
Have you tried the resource the other way (i.e. downloaded or online)? Other resources turn much more quickly
If it is downloaded, what happens when you put the device in Airplane mode? I put my iPad in airplane mode and the notes and highlights disappear and the Bible moves from one page to the next more quickly. But when the 3G catches up it slows down again.
Does this happen with other resources? Only resources that have highlights or notes
Are there many notes/highlights attached to this resource? yes

Can I choose to turn my highlights and notes on or off?
