Vyrso's versatility, extensive features heads above the rest
With all of Vyrso's advanced features, reading Christian ebooks through the Vyrso ereader app makes a lot more sense than thru any other ereader like Kindle, Nook, Kobo, etc., especially now that they're adding thousands of new titles. This release sums it up... http://www.logos.com/press/release/Vyrso_1000s_ebooks

Let's see now: close to a year ago they promised us 25,000 Vyrso books before Christmas.
Christmas is long gone, and they still haven't even reached 5,000. I'm not holding my breath.

I believe they are in the process of partnering with a few major big hitters in Christian publishing.

That would be awesome. But I'm not sure I'm ready for the flood of new books. I've already bought 235 Vyrso books since it was launched, and that's getting to be an expensive habit!

Looks like the news should hit next week with some big new NYT Bestsellers in the mix...

Michael, where do you get this info? That press release is 1.5 months old, and as far as I can see it doesn't say anything about thousands of new books. I believe it just talks about the books they already have.

Well, if you're right I sure hope Ignatius is one of them, because the current Vyrso offerings leave me pretty bored.

235!?! I haven't bought a single one yet. There's almost none that I want, and none that I particularly need, so I'm just waiting for a sale -- or a freebie. [:D]

There are free books available almost every day! Keep checking back and hopefully you will find one that you like.

Inside scoop... wait and see next week for the announcement of a new partnership and a boatload of new titles. Was referring to the last Vyrso release to point out the features, not the number of ebooks currently available.

Thanks, I know very well that there are free book almost every day, but they're of little or no interest to me. I'm anything but Evangelical.

I'd love to see IVP, Zondervan, and Eerdmans as Vyrso partners. Though most of their books probably work better in Logos, there are plenty which could work well as ebooks for reading (the Scripture references get automatically tagged anyway), and if it means we'll get them faster, I'd be all for it.
Also, while not specifically a Christian publisher, Harper's HarperSanFrancisco imprint publishes lots of Christian books (C.S. Lewis, for example!!) and ones of general interest on religion, so I'd love to see them partner with Logos/Vyrso!

You might not be disappointed. Next week.

Oh my! I can hardly contain my excitement. Are you sure you're authorized by Logos to leak such hints? [:)]
EDIT: Never mind. I see you are a Logos employee in disguise.

OK, so it's the end of "next week" now, and nothing big has been announced. Nothing on Vyrso either. Should I keep holding my breath for another week?

I have been waiting patiently to see if this will be a promise fulfilled this week or not. No joy yet from our good friends at Logos. This is getting craze, here I am getting disappointed for not spending more money on Logos/Vyrso. Is this an addiction or what? I hope not.

You beat me to it. I was too tired to look for the thread before I went to bed. (Of course, I never held my breath in the first place.)

Very disappointing. I suspected it, of course -- the OP certainly read like an ad -- but there was no logo and you kept talking about Logos as "they". And you gave a pretty deceitful answer to a pretty direct question. As usual, truth is banished to second chair at Logos, and once again I'm reminded never ever to trust anything Logos says. It almost always turns out to be something less than the absolute truth.

I see Michael has a Logos logo now on the forums, which he didn't when he made his initial posts. I don't think it was an intent to be deceptive on his part. Most new employees show up without the Logos logo for a couple of days until the forum elves get a chance to turn it on for them.
Well, I know that sometimes plans go awry, things take longer than expected, etc. Micahel was intentionally vague, so he didn't exactly tell us a falsehood. He said "you might not be disappointed." There's wiggle room in there. It turns out I was disappointed, but I might not have been if they'd gotten this release announcement out when they'd planned to. So the statement he made is still logically true. I'm not blaming him for giving "something less than the absolute truth" -- he probably gave all he knew at the time. He's probably not in control of how long these things take. Still, I'm hoping for some new announcement this week. They shouldn't get our hopes up if they're not pretty certain they can follow through.

I'm glad, Rosie, you pointed out the Logos logo was new. I was mixed up too.

I never ever trust a Logos employee when it comes to time. Not only do they get it wrong, they get it terribly wrong (IMHO). I tend to add 150% to 300% to the amount of time they say it is going to take to move something into production.Rosie Perera said:OK, so it's the end of "next week" now, and nothing big has been announced. I personally do not expect to see something about this for another two to three weeks.

Looking at newest eBooks on vryso.com => http://vyrso.com/products/search?start=&sort=newest&pageSize=15 noticed total # of resources is now 4,620 so recognize several hundred eBooks have been added this year.
Edit: Personally Thankful for 110 free Vryso eBooks since 25 Nov 2011.
Keep Smiling [:)]

Still two more free this month. Hopefully one tomorrow, and one Monday. Then on Tuesday there's possibly Freebies for May, and a new Free Book of the Month. I have been very blessed by all of these Freebies!

You didn't read my post very well. I wasn't talking about the 'next week' part. I was talking about the fact that [while it's true that new[-on-the-forum] employees sometimes show up without a logo,] most employees don't show up repeatedly talking about Logos as "they"; most employees don't refuse to admit they work for Logos; and most employees don't claim to have a "scoop" when, in fact, they are advertising. If that OP hadn't been about Logos, I would have reported it as spam, that's how much of an ad it reads as. He was pretty clearly trying to be secretive and pretend he didn't work for Logos.
The 'next week' part bothered me much less. If he was an outsider, he couldn't know for sure. And if he turned out to be an employee, well, I'm far beyond trusting Logos in matters of timing. I'm disappointed that they still try to pretend their words mean something, when we all know they don't, but the claims themselves are like water off a duck's back to me these days. When '25,000 books before Christmas' turns out to end with less than 5,000, I'm hardly going to bother about a week here or there...

Certainly, the OP claim is up for debate.Let's see:
- AMAZON's Kindle supports more platforms than Vyrso. So does PDF. Nook is currently tied with Vyrso. Vyrso does not stand head above the rest in this category.
- Extensive features. What are we talking about? Integration with Logos4? Ability to pop-up a verse? Surely, syncing last read position as well as notes and highlights? Searching massive libraries instantly? (if by instantly it means ONLY on desktop, then I would give it a heads' up). How about better Library management, so Logos titles don't clutter Vyrso' shelves and visa versa. How about EASILY download EVERY and ONLY the books one wants on ALL supported mobile devices. How about easily sending anything you can print to Kindle? can one do it for Vyrso? Can you lend Vyrso books? Can you buy Vyrso books CHEAPER than the competition's? Can you read Vyrso titles naitevely on e-ink screen? OK, I am willing to give Vyrso a kudos for the bible reference pop-up only, but as can be seen above, competition easily trumps Vyrso in the extensive features category.
- Publisher support and amount of books. Give me a break. Vyrso is a loser hands down.
- Free Books every month? Were you aware that the same titles are free on Amazon on the same days? I am grateful for many Vyrso freebies, but I was also loading on same Kindle titles free as well. Never hurts, you know. It's a draw on this one.
Although I appreciate the eagerness of a new employee (it could have
been a required task anyway) it just sounds like hollow hype to me.Definitely, there is a lot of work left to do, both in terms of bringing the book count closer to "promised" levels and in terms of user experience on all devices, not just iOS.

My goodness, the lady doth protest much about nothing! The lady doth read too much into this thread - give it a break[:P].

Hmmm ... looks like Nook has a new friend with quite a bit of programming experience. Lives right down the road from Vyrso. Going to be interesting, to say the least.

I wonder if the Justice Department settlement with some publishers (especially HarperCollins, parent company of Zondervan) is part of the delay? It may have been outside of Logos' control:

It seems, Vyrso just crossed the 5,000 mark with some 300 books published by http://www.barbourbooks.com - which from their website includes one book that may have been hinted at in the start of this thread with "NYT bestseller".
Doesn't rock the boat for me - but then, what would my wallet say if the real giants in christian publishing flooded us with the 20'000 missing books?
EDIT: Right now Vyrso seems to have 5.732 books, including a load of new ones from Baker and nearly a dozen dozen by NavPress. Keep it comin' !
Have joy in the Lord!

Still waiting and hoping that will go through soon, but in the meantime, 1,117 new titles from some big publishers/authors are officially available on Vyrso today.

Michael, what is the best way to browse through titles made available today? Sort all Vyrso books by newest?
