Why is nothing returned when I do the attached search?
A Basic Search can look for a Bible verse reference. [I] could search a Bible collection for a verse reference:

Because that syntax tells Logos to search for places that talk about the verse Matt 6:33; whereas Bibles don't talk about verses, they contain verses. You would use a Basic search with that syntax to find all commentaries and other books that make mention of Matt 6:33 by verse reference.
What are you attempting to do? Is your goal to find this verse in all your Bibles in order to compare the translations? In that case, what you want to use instead is the Text Comparison tool:
Enter the Scripture reference in the box on the left, and choose a collection of Bibles on the right side, or type in the abbreviations of the Bibles you want to compare (comma separated):
