Too Sad that Logos does not have built in Timeline.

I like to study background of people in the Bible. Timeline tool is essential for the study. In Logos timelines are not organized. Any plans to built a good timeline where I can follow certain characters and view their background?

Well, at least it's a very good idea. That was one of the first things I built into my own Bible software; uses a database table built around 'events' with multiple allowed dates, verses, locations, etc so that it links dynamically when matched while studying.
And of course the function I use constantly ... notes quickly assignable to multiple verses (and thus a major source of 'events').

Slava,
The Faithlife resources do/will contain some graphical timelines of individuals that are pretty interesting. They have even more graphically complex event lines, a number on individuals. Not sure who has/is able to get these at this point. I know that I got them through beta testing. Don't know if they've been released. They are called Faithlife Study Bible Infographics. Since I don't know about their status I won't show you a screen shot.

Mark I am not familiar with faithlife.com. I think Logos should be more concern with building useful tools instead of social networks. I am trying to see in a big picture the life of Jeremiah, kings during his life in (Israel, Egypt, Assyria, and other kingdoms) and Logos is not capable with massive resources organize in one timeline [:'(]

Slava,
If you go to the Faithlife Bible link Bob gave and use the coupon code, you will get the new Faithlife Infographics for free. The timelines are not exactly what you want but are better than the limited timelines we have in Logos. You don't need to do any social connecting to get and use the free resources.

Thanks Mark for the suggestion, but it is still not what I expect from timeline. I look for integrated timeline which would help me in my studies

Timelines in Logos are very limited. I made a post a while back on this same problem (I also included the Biblical Places shortcomings as well. I focused yet another post on the shortcomings of Biblical Places). There needs to be Timelines for the Babylonian Period, the Assyrian Period and anything periods in Mesopotamia. Logos also needs timelines on the Egyptian Kingdoms....all of them. They also need a Timeline for the two main theories of the Exodus (the Late Date and the Early Date) and how each views the overlapping judges of Judges (the book). Logos also needs the ability to Combine the Timelines that we want together (such as the Canaanite, Mesopotamian, and Egyptian periods. Logos also needs timelines for Church History that also shows the Caesars of Rome, and the Roman Governors (that we can validate) for each of the cities mentioned in the New Testament (it could provide interesting information regarding the city and city politics). The Greek Period needs all of the Greek emperors, especially the Ptolemies and Seleucids within the Timeline. The Hasmonean Period is also needed within the Intertestamental Period. The Intertestamental Period should begin with Cyrus the Great and not Darius I (The Second Temple Period technically began with Cyrus the Great and his decree). We need Timelines for the nations surrounding Israel (everything that has been verified) that coincides with Israel's Kings and during the Judges Period and before the Israelites entered the land of Canaan. In all of the Timelines, we need multiple opinions for the dates (not just one or two peoples suggestions).
Timelines also need to be incorporated MUCH better. I do not like that they are under Resources. The Timelines should be incorporated in the "Tools" drop down Tab for EASY access (since some of us forget where to find them) and they should be put together like "Collections" or "Favorites" or something like that so that they are all together. They also should not be ordered alphabetically, but by time Period (so the dates would be in Parentheses next to the title of the work and the entire date range such as "Church History (A.D. 4-A.D. 544)"). Also, the Church History Timeline should include Church History through the Enlightenment Period to within about 50 years ago. And they should be categorized as it is now (Apostolic Period, Apostolic Fathers, Ante-Nicene Fathers, Nicene Fathers, Post Nicene Fathers, Medieval Period, Renaissance Period, Enlightenment Period, and Modern Period). (Logos also needs more books on each specific time period of Church History. Logos also needs more books over each specific part of the Bible, such as Pentateuch, OT Historical Books, Psalms, Wisdom Literature, Prophets, and even the Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha; including Monographs, Encyclopedias/Dictionaries, Commentaries, etc.) But these are just my thoughts.

It is supposed to be under "Bible Reference."
I don't have any of the package info … I would assume that it is included in all of the base packages. My best guess is that there is a glitch in the system and that the necessary files haven't been unlocked on your account. Maybe give Logos a call?

Which base package did you buy? From what I can determine, Timeline is included with Bronze and above. Timeline is not in the Starter package

Oh, well that's considerable. Timeline depends on the data set being available. I bet it's still coming.

I haven't upgraded, but from what I've read the timeline feature probably requires a new database, which is most likely in what you are still downloading.

If one were to download the pirated engine (i say pirated since we are not allowed to have it yet, though we will be allowed to have it in the future, at that point it would not be pirated) without the new databases one might have an interface that looks similar to the one lacking timeline.
Or else, its possible that something just needs to download still.

This new timeline feature is very cool!
I hate to be dissatisfied already with something new and awesome, but I don't see any way to build custom Timelines the way L3 did. This is something MJ Smith has been asking for in L4 for a long time.

That will remain a LDLS3 feature for now; we don't plan to add user-editable timelines to Logos 4 or Logos 5 in the near future.

Bradley,
In a thread in another forum, the list of resources which have Timeline data in them was provided. I assume that as other resources have such data added, they will show up in the Timeline automatically.
Given that, couldn't we at least get our own events into the Timeline by creating PBs with appropriate fields (which would obviously require an enhancement to the PB compiler).

You will be able to embed date references into your PBs, such that enabling the "Timeline events" visual filter will show a "hollow flag" icon that lets you jump to the timeline at that date.
However, the master set of events that is displayed in the timeline is not extensible in this way.
