Overlaying Images/Changing Timing in Loops

I'm having trouble finding a basic help function to answer these questions.  Am I supposed to just search the boards here?  Currently, I'm running into two issues I can't find a solution to:

1. I can add an image as a background, but I can't figure out how to overlay a second image on top of the background, as one might overlay text.  It would save me a lot of time.  Is it possible?

2. This seems very basic, but with the timed slides in loops, I can't figure out how to change the timing.  (i.e. a slide remains for 7s, but I want it for 10s).  I can do it by clicking the "Auto-advance every __ seconds" at the bottom of the screen, but that must not be the only way, right?

Thanks in advance for any help.  If I'm missing a basic help resource that might answer these questions, would someone please kindly refer me there?

You can add a foreground image to a Content slide by clicking on Add Image in the Content tab:

Currently that is the only way to explicitly control the slide advancement. Songs and Video slides do not have this option at the moment (they advance based on their content).
