display problems with jpegs

I created jpegs on Broderbund's Print Shop Professional in both 4X3 and 16X9 ratios.  Both view fine on my PC running Windows 7 Professional, but once imported to Proclaim they display squeezed.  Are there settings somewhere in proclaim to tell it to display these correctly?  I tried switching the aspect ratio from 4x3 to 16X9 in the center of the main proclaim window, but it does not help.  Any thoughts or solutions short of creating content in proclaim?   I would create the content in Proclaim but the options are so limited and too cumbersome that they frustrate me.
