Growing file size of L4M
I hadn't downloaded an update installation file for L4M in some time. I did today and it was much larger than what I had by about 40 MB. I'm assuming that it's because of the new features. Or is it something else?

I think the new builds are about 120 MB.

Holy moly! I remember when Logos 0.9x (for Windows) fit on a 1.2Mb floppy! Maybe even a 360K floppy.

Observation: 4.5c Beta is a bit smaller: 118 MB instead of 120 MB for 4.5b since Logos is no longer including nib files while working on user interface code revamp.

You're probably not going to like this, but the app stands to get MUCH bigger whenever Logos implements Retina display support. I fully expect Apple to announce retina display Macs in about three weeks. It will probably be a while before most apps have full support for them though.

The single largest file in Logos is part of the "Awesomium" framework, weighing in at 66.8 MB (The total app size is 293.9MB unzipped). Awesomium looks like some sort of wrapper for WebKit, an HTML rendering engine used by both Safari and Chrome. I'm not familiar with Awesomium, so I'm not sure what it brings to the table that the WebKit framework built into OS X doesn't already bring, except perhaps not having to worry about an OS update breaking HTML for you.

Very astute! That is exactly what we use it for. We cannot be sure that web content will display consistently without including our own WebKit.

Final production version of Logos for Mac 1.2.2 (released on 17 Sep 2009) essentially became an e-Book reader after Safari 5 update on 20 July 2011 (released with OS X Lion); older Mac OS X options: try restoring previous Safari version =>http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20110722154439693 OR downgrade Safari to older 4.0.5 => http://itsalltech.com/2010/07/11/how-to-downgrade-safari-5-to-safari-4-on-mac-os-x/ (not applicable for OS X Lion). The old Libronix for Mac software can peacefully coexist with Logos 4 Mac, but cannot read new Logos 4 file format, only older Libronix format.

I thought Awesomium was something like insanely great. I guess any English usage is subject to being mauling by technology companies these days. Next thing you know AA will be used for Awesomium Again.[8-|]
