In Hebrews 12:2, the author writes that believers are to focus their attention on Jesus, the author and completer of faith. The prepositional phrase is -- εἰς τὸν τῆς πίστεως ἀρχηγὸν καὶ τελειωτὴν Ἰησοῦν. The first article can be taken to modify either Jesus (Ἰησοῦν) or author and completer (ἀρχηγὸν καὶ τελειωτὴν). The second article modifies faith (πίστεως). However, the Lexham Expansion and Annotation lists it as modifying author and completer (ἀρχηγὸν καὶ τελειωτὴν). Any idea why?
