Some of the required content failed to download, please click to try again

Hi there,

I'm just starting playing with proclaim, but it seems to have problems with syncing.

2 examples:

1. Adding in a 243 KB .pptx powerpoint file. If I upload it to my group, it prepares it OK and I initially see my slides, then it tells me in the bottom left that it's uploading the content, then as soon as it's uploaded the powerpoint slides Proclaim seem to try and refresh each slide, and each slide says 'Some of the required content failed to download'. I try and sync again with the button on the top right and still no joy. If I only have the slides locally then all is fine!

2. Trying to put my own backbround on slides for our songs (so that we can have our church logo on the bottom of each slide) and basically I get the same issue.

Basically it seems my account is broken - if I try a new blank presentation, it still says in the top right that it has failed to download content.

I'm using a PC with a mobile internet connection, but I think it should still work even if the connection is slow.

Also, what dimension images should I be creating for custom backgrounds? Is there an option for a master background and styles like in powerpoint that is used for all content?

My guess is that image download requests are timing out. Please post your log files so we can know for sure what the issue is.

Windows:

XP - %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\Proclaim Log Files\
Vista/Win7 - %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\Proclaim Log Files\

Also, what dimension images should I be creating for custom backgrounds?

Depends on the aspect ratio of your projector, Proclaim supports 4:3 (1024x768) and 16:9 (1920x1080).

Is there an option for a master background and styles like in powerpoint that is used for all content?

There is not but we automatically default the media and style to that of the last created service item of that kind (e.g. Bible, Song).

Thanks Scott. See my reply to my other post here - http://community.logos.com/forums/p/50761/374051.aspx#374051 - for the log files (didn't think I needed to post them twice!). I think things must have been timing out - on my broadband connection at home Proclaim seems to work well. However, ideally I think Proclaim should work without crashing on a mobile (3G) connection too - I don't expect things to download quickly. We use a mobile wifi hotspot in our office, and can use the mobile 3G in the school we meet in - there's no broadband / lan connection we can use in the school hall.

Agreed, Proclaim should not crash due to a slow connection. I didn't see your previous post mention a crash, were you experiencing one?

Yes, it's on our radar as a requested feature.

Sorry - Proclaim didn't crash because of a slower connection. However it kind of became unusable as it would not display any content that I uploaded (e.g. slide backgrounds) as it then failed to dowload it (it may not be working like that behind the scenes but that it was it seemed to be doing). I was just getting blank slides with exclamation triangles next to them.

Good one about the master styles.

Hi Scott,

Is there any more news on this issue I'm having of content not downloading when I have a slow internet connection? It's making Proclaim unusable in our office with 3G internet. Current download speed is 0.25Mbps (from speedtest.net) - yes I know it's slow! I did connect at home via broadband and proclaim was working much better and downloaded all the free content etc.

I guess here's my main issue.

1) I just uploaded a background image to use for some slides - Accounts | Upload File...

2) It uploaded a small 191KB jpeg file, the progress bar in the bottom left completed. So the upload worked OK.

3) I go to the slide I want, then backgound, then search in the search box for 'blue', part of the background file name - it doesn't show any pictures of the content, but I can see that 'CCCB Side Blue' is there when I hover over it in the maximized my content window. I select this content and then I get the attached screenshot. My computer starts to run slowly (runs faster again once proclaim is closed) although proclaim is only using about 15% CPU.

When I delete the slide I tried to change the background on, the system seems to re-sync and no I get the Green sync light again!

This is really very frustrating.

Log files attached - error log shows there were timeouts. However I am able to use the internet OK even with a slow connection - e.g. creating this post.

Thank you for the log files! We will be looking more closely at this, though I have been unable to reproduce the exact results you have.
