Not able to open my Logos Mac 4

I did an update on my logos 4 for mac and thereafter have not been able to get into my software. Once launched, the program attempts to sign me in and thereafter it just doesn't.

Do you get a login screen? What do you see?

Logs will be vital to understanding your problem. See the second link in my signature for instructions. Note especially the Applescript app Logos 4 Mac AppleScript Application can enabling logging and Logos Log Scribe will automate the process of gathering and archiving the log files.

One option is contacting Logos Tech Support => http://www.logos.com/about/contact (phone lines are open during the business week).

Other option is enabling, then posting diagnostic log files (in a compressed archive) for Logos user and employee comments.

Could enable diagnostic logging, restart Mac, launch Logos 4 Mac. If Logos 4 crashes or does not work after sign-in, then compress log files and attach to a forum reply.

Optional: download and use 5504.Logos4MacLogging.app.zip to display your logging setting, then change to enable logging.

To clarify - Have you used L4 Mac before (are you a new user, or just new to the forums)? Is Logos 4 giving you a sign in box, or is it trying to automatically sign in? Is it crashing, or just giving you a blank screen?

To submit logs:

First, you should download a small script program to help you turn on logging. Click HERE.
Once the file downloads, double click to run it and click "enable."
Open L4 Mac
Upload the logs here. You can read more in the WIKI.

To add to Bama's good advice, you should also download Logos Log Scribe. This little utility will assemble the log files, and create an archive on your desktop ready to be posted to the forum.

Hi, thanks for providing the steps. I am not new to L4 Mac but this is the first time I have encountered problems while trying to launch the L4 Mac program. What happens is that the program attempts to sign me in automatically and then it fails and crashes. The programs stops launching.

Christopher - I am "out & about" and not near my computer. If no one gets back with you this morning, bump the thread so I see it this afternoon.

Thomas - your symptom (crash) might be the same, but the cause might be very different. You also need to post logs. It would be best to do so in a new thread. Welcome to the forums by the way [:)]

If you updated from a version prior to 4.5, you need to wait for the update. If you updated from a previous 4.5 build, please create a new thread and post logs.

After reading about one more Logos 4 Mac login failure => Logos 4 will not open-again, will this never end! am wondering about folder and file permissions within a couple hidden folders used by Logos 4 Mac. In Terminal, please run this list (ls) command and post output:

ls -alR ~/.config

ls -alR ~/.mono

Note: if permission(s) were changed on these hidden folders to prevent writing, Logos 4 Mac will refuse to sign in.

The file and folder permissions for .config look correct.

Wonder if your Logging folder has any files, especially Logos4Error.log ? If so, please attach file(s) to a forum reply.

The path to your Logging folder is ~/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Logging where ~ is your Library (/Users/twhite)

OS X Lion note: by default, /Users/twhite/Library folder is hidden, with many ways to see contents => http://www.macworld.com/article/161156/2011/07/view_library_folder_in_lion.html and can assign keyboard shortcut =>http://mac.finerthingsin.com/post/7849528212/lion-library-folder-visible
