Bug: "Application cannot be started"

I cannot get Proclaim to run on our normal sanctuary-video laptop. I download the file from the site, and when I try to run it, I get a popup that says, "Application cannot be started. Contact the application vendor."

For whatever it may be worth, the first time I tried to install Proclaim (still in beta) on this computer, it ran fine for a while, then stopped working and gave me the popup. I've tried multiple times since then; once or twice it has installed properly and run for a couple weeks, and then I've gotten the popup.

Hi Rob and welcome to the forums,

It appears that you are stuck on an obsolete version of Proclaim on your system, and possibly there are some older files cached in your IE browser that may be hindering any attempts to update.

Please try these steps and see if they correct the problems you're having:

Uninstall your current version of Proclaim from your system using the Windows 'Control Panel' > 'Uninstall a program' function.
Open Internet Explorer and clear your browser cache.
1. In IE8 and IE9 you would do that from the 'Tools' menu > 'Internet Options' > 'General' tab > 'Delete...' button, then on the 'Delete Browsing History' dialog, uncheck everything except 'Temporary Internet Files' (confirm that remains checked), and click the 'Delete' button.
Restart your browser.
Download the latest version of the Proclaim software from here.
Install, and with hope you're on your way to presentation creation goodness.

Mark, thanks very much. I'd been uninstalling it before trying to reinstall, but I hadn't thought to clear the cache. (I use Chrome instead of IE, but just to be safe I cleared the caches of both.) Doing both, it installed and is running perfectly. Much, much appreciated.

I just had this problem today. We have been using Proclaim for several months now with no issues. I went to open it today and got the "application cannot be started" pop up today. I followed the instructions in this thread in addition to defragging, and running my pc cleaning software. Rebooted the machine and downloaded proclaim from the site...but I still get the pop up.

Need some serious help...Sunday is coming!

I had the same problem. Instead of uninstalling, however, I chose the option to restore to previous. It brought the Proclaim, but it didn't have the last service. I closed the program and then brought it back up. It doesn't upgrade and retrieve the service. Will I have to uninstall and reinstal to get the wha I last save up. Service is tomorrow.

I recommend uninstalling and re installing. If you don't want to do that you can post your log files and I'll see if I can tell why it's not syncing.

I had this same "Application cannot be started" error today. I spent about an hour on the phone with level 2 support, and after several Windows updates, and several attempts to determine what the cause of the problem was, we were unsuccessful. The last step with the tech was a Windows update, which did have 50+ updates to apply and he was certain that would fix it. It didn't. Running out of time to be ready for tomorrow, I borrowed another laptop to be ready. After that was done, I tried one last thing on my original laptop. I rebooted to safe mode on Windows 7, and was then able to install the program successfully. I rebooted back to normal mode and all was fine. So, if anyone else is fighting this issue after uninstalling and trying to reinstall, you might consider trying to install via safe mode.
