Word Lists from Textbooks

It seems this would be one of the most useful ways to use this feature. I searched the Wiki, but could not find anything, figured it was due to it being a new feature.

Word Lists are new with this beta 4.6. Try to do what you want and report any difficulties.

Were you on L3? Libronix had great tools. I'm not sure I know what I did with my Vocabularly Lists, so I'll look around soon and see if I still have them.

Other long-time Logos3.0g users also probably have lists they will share with you. *smile*

I just downloaded the ONE list for Basics of Biblical Hebrew.

Then I typed Import Word Lists into the command box

When I did, I suddenly got all of the word lists from the website!

Sure you never downloaded them in the past, maybe years ago, for L3? Because as we are told, the Import Word Lists command looks in L3 folders for the respective files.

I am using a Windows 7 machine.

Is there a comparable file location on the Mac? Maybe the developers can tell where they let the routine have a look on your systems (or if an IFDEF kills it immediately if nor run on PC).

A workaround could be to open these XML files in a spreadsheet or editor and put them into the clipboard and let the Word List be created from there.

Unless this routine is fixed on PC I wouldn't call it a real parity issue anyway...

Am attempting to install vocab list for Futato's "Beginning Biblical Hebrew", but the Mac OS insists that it is an xml file, which L4 will not recognize as a Word List.

UPDATE: Opened L4 Win (shudder [8-|]), imported Futato and Weingreen, synched, opened L4 Mac. I now have the vocabulary lists in L4 Mac.

The problem with importing these files into L4 Mac seems to be the Mac OS's insistence that these are xml files. Same problem with Safari and Firefox.

Yes. Yes I did. I had downloaded them to ...\Libronix DLS\VocabularyLists however I had just downloaded the BBH one to ...\Libronix DLS\WordLists. The latter only contained the one file, the former contained them all.

If I use the command Import All instead, it imports everything except word and Vocabulary Lists

Robert,

the command is "Import Word List" but it seems a bit buggy. I found that I needed to open the downloaded Wordlists in L3, go to properties, change the name a bit and close L3 (I figure this makes L3 create a new file or update an old one to the extent the L4 import routine detects it as "new" and will import it).

Technically, be the way, these are XML files anyway and shouldn't need L3, just be "new" (I figure L4 keeps track of imports internally) in the right location.

I was able to create a word list in L4 using the greek xml, copying and pasting in "word list" add- clipboard- you can only view in audio mode - have not been able to get Hebrew list to work yet.

the command is "Import Word List" but it seems a bit buggy.

I'll say the following for this implementation of Word/Vocabulary Lists:-

the feature is incomplete and buggy
it is not documented
the command is Import Word Lists (unless it appears under a Tools heading when typing is nearly completed then you got it wrong)
Importing begins when you click the command under Tools --> you don't have to restart Logos
.xml files aren't recognised -- only .lbxwdl and .lbxvl
I'm not sure if it cares that vocab lists and word lists are mixed in the same L3 folder!

It won't work. All documents (Word Lists) are stored in a single database (*.db) file i.e. there are no user accessible documents in Logos4.
