Is it possible to remove all instances of a certain tag?

I'm trying to remove all intances of a certain tag. However, if I clear all tags, it removes all other tags on those resources also. Is there a way to bulk remove all tags of a certain name? I know I can go through them one by one, but I'd like to do them all at once.
Help appreciated.

I haven't tried this, but i'll bet it will work. Try the opposite of bulk tagging them, namely:
- use tag:mytag in the library to show all the instances of the tag
- use Ctrl-A to select them all
- use Ctrl-click to deselect just the ones you don't want to clear tags from
- then clear the tags from the remaining ones that are still selected

Thanks Sean,
However, the ones that I want to delete tags from all have other tags as well in each resource. The problem is how to clear or delete one of my tags but not others. At present, there is an all or nothing approach to bulk deletion of tags, as far as I can see.

You seem to be correct. At least I'm too scared to hit "clear tags" to see if it gives an option for which one to clear. I would suggest listing all tags universal to the highlighted resources in the "add these tags" section with the ability to select one and hit delete.

Don't press the "Clear Tags" button. Follow Sean's advise above, plus:
Click on the tag you want to delete, to start editing it.
Then delete the text so that the edit box is blank.
Hit enter.
Tag is gone, the rest of them are all there.

There might be some confusion. Sean's suggestion was to not clear any of the tags from particular resources, not to remove a particular tag from all resources. In multi-resource tagging mode there is no ability to select only one tag for editing, only to add tags to all the highlighted resources. Or am I misunderstanding what you are saying?

It doesn't. When I've tried to do it in the past, I've had to delete all the tags and re-add the ones I want. You also can't edit tags for more than one resource at a time (in case you misspelled it).
So we need need both a way to remove a specific tag from multiple resources and a way to edit existing tags in multiple resources.

O dear. Yes. Your correct. When one add tags to multiple resources, you can edit /delete them, but once they are committed to the index, you cant change them except for delete all. Sorry, my mistake.

Add to that a tag manager of some kind. As I see L4 developing tagging will become a hugely utilized function. Not to say I'm right, but it sure seems that way. A tag manager will be essential as people become more dependent upon the function.

If there was no simple way of doing it at present that I was currently unaware of, such as in the command box, I had in mind that this would be a good way to go.

Yes, once you've added a couple of tags, the whole thing becomes quite unwieldy.
I was searching on mytags in the library and trying to remove a particular tag. Once I cleared all the tags of some resources, I did not have time to re-add the tags which had also been cleared in the process as the resources disappeared from my library browser because they no longer fitted the search criterion.

I need to edit / delete some tags, exactly as John had asked >2 years ago.
Any update on this? Or workaround? Thanks.

If resources have two mytag's assigned, one option is filtering library by mytag:, then sort library by My Tags column so have a group of resources with two tags that can be selected as a group, "Clear tags", then add tags to all resources in that group (including mytag to keep).
Possibly could combine mytag with other library filtering to group resources so can "Clear tags" to remove all tags, then add tags to all resources in selected group.
Using Logos 4.5b, am Thankful that clicking "Clear tags" keeps resources selected so can add one tag at a time to all selected resources.
Keep Smiling [:)]

I found this fact as very helping in the very limited tag editing possibilities in the current Logos version. It just helped me to reorganize my tags. Thank you KS [Y]

I've found myself suffering from this feature weakness. The mytag feature is great, but there needs to be a way to delete all instances of a particular tag and to rename all instances of a particular tag. Please Logos, add this feature!
