Customize - how can the modifications I make stay saved?

I am new to proclaim.

I am currently adding songs. When I click on Customize, I click on Lyrics and start changing: the font size, font name, alignment, and so on. Then, I go to the top right hand corner of my screen and click on Done. And I am able to see all the updates that I made on the projector.

However when I am ready to clear all the songs, I right click on each song and click delete (this does not delete my saved songs listed in the My Songs directory) .... I am close to my question.... when I am ready to add a song from My Songs Directory .... every song is there, but the changes I made in the font size, font name, and alignment ... revert back to the old settings. How can the modifications I make in the "customize" stay saved for each individual song that I modify?

    Hi Jessica,

I think I may be a bit confused as to what you are trying to do. Why are you "clearing" or deleting the songs once you have finished with them? Is it that you are trying to do all of your customization as you import the songs, rather than customizing as you add them to the presentation?

The customization settings are not saved per individual song. This is because songs may be added to a variety of themed presentations, so a style that fits in one presentation may not fit in another. When a new song service item is added to a presentation, we automatically use the styling that was used on the last song service item. The songs in your database contain the song information, but there is no styling associated with them.

If you do use a song in one presentation, and you like the customization settings you've set for it, you can use the same song with the same customizations again by going to the "Add Item" menu and choosing that styled song from the "Reuse Items" area.

Let me know if this doesn't answer your question.

When I open proclaim, I have the following categories: PreService Loop, Warm Up, Service, and Post Service Loop. What I have been doing is adding songs from my My Songs Directory and modify them (all the songs are placed in the Service Category). Then when service is over, I right click on the songs that are in the Service category and click delete. Or should I always leave all the songs listed in the Service category? I do this because we dont use the same songs for each service.

Also for the songs, I am copying and pasting songs from the internet and adding them using the Add Item->Song. I do not have saved songs from the program we were using before so I can't use the File feature to import songs. What suggestions do you have?

So you have one presentation that you are simply modifying each week?

Firstly, you could duplicate your previous week's presentation by going to the Open menu, right clicking on the presentation you want to duplicate, and clicking "Duplicate presentation". This gives you an exact copy of your presentation that you can modify for this week. The nice aspect of this is that if you do choose to reuse a song in that presentation in a future presentation, you can find it again in the "Add Item" -> Reuse Items section.

Secondly, instead of deleting the song service item and losing all of your customizations, just update the existing song service item to a different song.

    - If you are adding from a song currently in your My Songs directory, just go to the Title box and delete the title currently in there. Then begin typing the title of the song you want to add. A dropdown with matching song titles will appear; click the one you want, and your song service item will populate with the new song, with your previous customizations intact.

    - If you are adding a new song, just delete the text in the title and lyrics fields and copy and paste your new information. Voila, a new song added with the customizations still intact, and your new song will also be added to your My Songs directory.

    Does that help?
