Armininian systematic theology recommendations

Hey everyone,

I'm doing a study on the nature of sin from different perspectives. Could anyone point me in the direction of a good Armininian or Semi-pelaginian systematic theology book or author? thanks. I think Logos has Geisler but that is about it. Is that right? Thanks for your help.

Regarding Arminian, maybe this website will help: http://www.squidoo.com/arminianresources

Of course it helps to go to the source: read Arminius. In my paper book library I find respective works from e.g. Picirilli, Forlines, Thomas C. Oden, Roger Olson. Olson's book "Arminian Theology - Myths and realities" samples classic Arminian ST works, thus you may find this helpful to point you further. One more: the Arminian Confession of 1621 (edited by Mark Ellis) of course deals with sin.

There will be much good stuff in all of these.

Regarding Semipelagianism: don't know a good recommendation. Maybe Charles Finney's ST - at least Olson and other authors claim Finney was a semipelagian, maybe they are right, I haven't read him.

You might want to get "For Calvinism" by Michael Horton and "Against Calvinism" by Roger Olson. The two volume set is $17 until the end of today. Check the Pastor's Appreciation Month Sale.

For & Against Calvinism, William Pope-came in a package, Classical Arminianism: A Theology of Salvation, The Picirilli book, plus Arminius on CCEL.

So far it's been good reading on a difficult and important subject....thanks.

I am less familiar with Miley’s work, but Grudem says, “This is probably the most scholarly and extensive Arminian systematic theology ever written. Miley was a professor at Drew Theological Seminary, Madison, New Jersey.” It is available on line at the Internet Archive:

It, however, does not have the depth of either Watson or Pope (or, Grudem states, Miley). It is much more a descriptive theology than a systematic theology. It is available on line at

1. Reflecting God Study Bible (1998)
This is the Wesleyan edition of the familiar NIV Study Bible. Besides including a good set of study notes, this edition also includes a set for essays aimed at helping the believer live a holy life. Though still available through Christian book distributors, it does not seem to be available from the Zondervan, the publisher.

2. The Wesley Bible (1990)
Study notes from a Wesleyan perspective are the keynote of this NKJV bible. This is still my standard Study Bible.
  3. The Wesley Study Bible (2009)
A recent Wesleyan study Bible edited by Joel B. Green (from Fuller Seminary) and William H. Willimon (a United Methodist Bishop)
