Armininian systematic theology recommendations

Hey everyone,
I'm doing a study on the nature of sin from different perspectives. Could anyone point me in the direction of a good Armininian or Semi-pelaginian systematic theology book or author? thanks. I think Logos has Geisler but that is about it. Is that right? Thanks for your help.

Would John Cassian work for you? He wrote a bit about sin and it would certainly be a different perspective.

How about one of these:
Pope, William Burt. A Compendium of Christian Theology: Being Analytical Outlines of a Course of Theological Study, Biblical, Dogmatic, Historical, Volumes 1-3. London: Beveridge and Co., 1879.
A Manual of Theology, Joseph Agar Beet, Hodder and Stoughton, 1906
Classical Arminianism: The Theology of Salvation, F. Leroy Forlines, Randall House, 2011
Arminian Theological Studies Collection (5 vols.), Robert E. Picirilli, F. Leroy Forlines, Randall House, 1975–2011
The Works of Arminius (4 vols.)I wouldn't consider Geisler in the Armininian or semi-pelagian group.

Regarding Arminian, maybe this website will help: http://www.squidoo.com/arminianresources
Of course it helps to go to the source: read Arminius. In my paper book library I find respective works from e.g. Picirilli, Forlines, Thomas C. Oden, Roger Olson. Olson's book "Arminian Theology - Myths and realities" samples classic Arminian ST works, thus you may find this helpful to point you further. One more: the Arminian Confession of 1621 (edited by Mark Ellis) of course deals with sin.
There will be much good stuff in all of these.
Regarding Semipelagianism: don't know a good recommendation. Maybe Charles Finney's ST - at least Olson and other authors claim Finney was a semipelagian, maybe they are right, I haven't read him.
Hope this helps,
Mick

Thank you all for your help. I will look at all your recommendations. Thanks a million. Cheers.

You might want to get "For Calvinism" by Michael Horton and "Against Calvinism" by Roger Olson. The two volume set is $17 until the end of today. Check the Pastor's Appreciation Month Sale.

If you haven't already found one, try Oden's 3 volume work. He's Methodist Arminian.

Thanks Eric...I don't have that one. But I have a start on the subject with
For & Against Calvinism, William Pope-came in a package, Classical Arminianism: A Theology of Salvation, The Picirilli book, plus Arminius on CCEL.
So far it's been good reading on a difficult and important subject....thanks.
Cheers,

Of course, it might not hurt to consider the possibility that Calvinism and Arminianism are both wrong.

Is there anything systematic about Arminian theology other than systematically lacking a system?

Your statement is incendiary and without merit.

A number of years ago I put together a list of Wesleyan-Arminian resources I would like to see in Libronix. At the time I originally compiled this list, none of these resources were available from LOGOS. As you can see from those marked with "**", most have now become a part of the LOGOS library. Here is that original list. The non-LOGOS hyperlinks were part of the original list - before the tools were offered as part of LOGOS. I have now hyperlinked the titles to the LOGOS web site:
==================================================
Bible Commentaries
1. Wesleyan Bible Study Commentaries (2001 to Present) **
Currently being developed by the Wesleyan Publishing House (a division of The Wesleyan Church), the following volumes have been published:Genesis (out of stock indefinitely) Psalms
Proverbs John
Acts Romans
Ephesians I and II Thessalonians
1 & 2 Timothy, Titus, and Philemon James
Revelation (January 2005)
2. Wesleyan Bible Commentary (1966) **
This six volume set, published by the Willam B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, covers the entire Bible. I have found it to be a helpful resource to have at my side.
Theological Works
1. Miley, John (1892). Systematic Theology **
I am less familiar with Miley’s work, but Grudem says, “This is probably the most scholarly and extensive Arminian systematic theology ever written. Miley was a professor at Drew Theological Seminary, Madison, New Jersey.” It is available on line at the Internet Archive:
http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=Miley%20systematic%20theology%20AND%20collection%3Aamericana
2. Pope, William Burt (1880). A Compendium Of Christian Theology **
Pope’s three volume work is both scholarly and easy to read. It is grounded throughout in scripture. This work is available on-line as PDF files at
Volume 1: http://wesley.nnu.edu/wesleyctr/books/2401-2500/HDM2404.PDF
Volume 2: http://wesley.nnu.edu/wesleyctr/books/2401-2500/HDM2405.PDF
Volume 3: http://wesley.nnu.edu/wesleyctr/books/2401-2500/HDM2406.PDF
Wayne Grudem (author of Systematic Theology) writes that, “This work … is one of the greatest systematic theologies written from a Wesleyan or Arminian perspective.”
3. Watson, Richard (1851). Theological Institutes. (Offered in community pricing as part of a bundle)
Watson’s work, published in two volumes, is a well-written work which, though very biblical, has a philosophical bent. It available on-line at
http://wesley.nnu.edu/wesleyan_theology/watson/index.htm
The on-line format is such that it cannot be searched and its formatting leaves much to be desired for reading. This work is also available as a PDF file on an AGES CD.
4. Wiley, H. Orton (1940). Christian Theology.
Orton’s is an important work because it was the standard Wesleyan theology text for Bible College and Seminary students for much of the latter half of the 20th century. It, however, does not have the depth of either Watson or Pope (or, Grudem states, Miley). It is much more a descriptive theology than a systematic theology. It is available on line at

Study Bibles
1. Reflecting God Study Bible (1998)
This is the Wesleyan edition of the familiar NIV Study Bible. Besides including a good set of study notes, this edition also includes a set for essays aimed at helping the believer live a holy life. Though still available through Christian book distributors, it does not seem to be available from the Zondervan, the publisher.
2. The Wesley Bible (1990)
Study notes from a Wesleyan perspective are the keynote of this NKJV bible. This is still my standard Study Bible.
3. The Wesley Study Bible (2009)
A recent Wesleyan study Bible edited by Joel B. Green (from Fuller Seminary) and William H. Willimon (a United Methodist Bishop)

Though this original list was created in 2004, I did add this last item to the list of original resources as I typed this note. You will note that I marked several of the items in RED ** to indicate that they are at some stage in the Pre-pub process. I would like to see the remaining items in Libronix, I can only hope.Blessings,

Sorry for posting twice - I got an error message when I first posted and reposted (as instructed in the error message). And again got the error message. I stopped posting at that point.
Seems like both posts actually went through. Administrators can delete one of the two posts.
