BUG - Lyrics font different size for each line

Occasionally, we have a song that does not get formatted correctly. I have attached the screen shot. In this example, we are using the song "The Lord Reigns" by Klaus Kuehn from SongSelect. It occurs in verse 1. This is using the Proclaim formatted template slide "modern song lyrics - tree urban". Using Fontin font size 65. The error occurs regardless of font chosen. And if I use a small font like 25 or 30, the error is not present (but that is too small to use on our projectors). At 35 and above is when the error is visible and the difference in font size seems to be more extreme the higher font size used. The lyrics are all in the song lyrics text field, so all the letters should be the same font and size and style. The only thing differing in the text is that they are separated by carriage return or "enter" inside that text field as normal for each line of text. This occurs in the other Proclaim song templates as well and slightly in a blank white background, but still present, just not as noticeable. Also occurs for verse 1 of the song "10,000 Reasons" by Jonas Myrin; Matt Redman from SongSelect.

Can you folks test those songs and see if you get the same result. Or help me with why this is happening on these two songs. Hopefully you can see what I'm talking about with the attached image.

Ok I did a little more problem solving. The lines that are smaller text are because they are at the threshold of the lyrics text fields left and right border. On all the other songs that we use, if the text is too long at a particular font size, then all the text font shrinks to fit in that text field box, so that all the text is the same size. So that is what is happening but why it is happening?

If you test it, it should be big like 65 font size on a standard definition screen width. I thought that all the text was supposed to shrink to fit the text field if the value was too large, not just individual lines, that just makes it look strange.

I have had similar issues. I had to shorten the line in order to fix the problem, but I am thinking that this should not be an issue. Sometimes I don't catch all of them since we have two services and is a bit embarrassing when one comes on with tiny letters. What are we doing wrong or is this a bug in proclaim?

You're doing nothing wrong. According to the release notes, this is a "feature" if you can call it that. I wish they would employ automatic line breaks and font styles over video... but, I guess we must be patient. :-)

ok I see that now in release 1.7 (had to search for that) so it's about a month old.

That doesn't seem like a "feature". If you look at my screen capture, that's a distraction if you're even able to read it at all. It makes sense to change the font of an entire slide for it to fit. I don't see the sense in making one or more lines so much smaller than all the rest.

So my apologies Proclaim Team on calling it a "bug". I was confused because prior builds didn't operate that way. Would be great to have it back the way it was.

This verse renders fine using the original style as part of the Modern background.

It looks like you have customized the style to bring the margins in quite a bit. There is no longer enough horizontal space to use the requested font size of 40 points. Proclaim tries to reduce the font size of the entire song until all of the lines fit. Here is an example of the same slide with large margins. The largest font size that fits all of the lines is 30 points. Proclaim is using a 30 point font size for the whole slide even though the requested size is 40 points.

The logic prior to version 1.7 was to keep decreasing the font size until the longest line fit. The new logic prevents shrinking lines once they have reached a threshold of 80% of the desired size. Once a single line needs a font size outsize that threshold it is sized independently. The goal is allow the rest of the song display correctly and highlight the line causing the problem.

Here is the same slide with the margins set such that the largest font size that can fit all of the lines is 26 points. 26 is too small so the two long lines are removed from the calculation allowing the rest of the text to grow.

You have two options

Split up the long lines
Select a smaller font size for the style.

In this example if you use a font size of 30 it would look the same a version prior to 1.7.

Thanks for your reply Allen. I guess I'll be on the lookout for lines that are shrunk. It was easier to discover that my margins needed widening (or a line broken up) when all the text size was decreased prior to 1.7
