Should I return Logos 4 and purchase Logos 5 (Silver Scholar, 30 day grace period)?

I just purchased Logos 4 Silver Scholar Base Pack. 3 days later Logos 5 rolled out. I have the option to return 4 and purchase 5.
I am not interested in spending more money to pay for an upgrade.
Do you think I should keep Logos 4 or get Logos 5?
I know I will lose and gain some resources, but I am having a hard time comparing them. Any help?

Welcome to the forums Michael. I suggest you Logos and talk with a sales rep. You will get credit for having purchased L4. They will work out the best cost for you.

Click the package you might be interested in and then click the NEW TO YOU section. The stuff you already own will be hidden and you can peruse to see what interests you.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Michael - welcome to the forums! [:)]
I concur with Lynden… it might be best to contact a Logos sells rep. There is a wiki page for discontinued base packages, but it hasn't been updated, with makes it difficult for us to compare the two for you. One thing you should do before you call… take a quick look at your library and see if there are resources which are "must have's." Check the web site to see if those are in the new package you would be getting. If not, you might be able to purchase the "must have" resources at a discount when ordering the new package.

That's a good idea! Still look for the "must haves" to make sure they are on the list.

Michael,
I took the time to do a detailed comparison of the L4 Silver and L5 Silver. My conclusion is that the L5 Silver contents are stronger.
You gain: the Baker Encyclopedias and Dictionaries, two good systematic theologies, two large commentary sets (Calvin and Lange), the Faithlife resources, lots of new Lexham resources, The Theological Lexicons of the OT and NT, and all the new databases in L5 Silver.
Significant losses are: Wiersbe's material, NIV (2011), The Theological Dictionary of the New Testament.
I would like to have the TDNT but you gain two 3-volume lexicons, a bunch of commentaries, solid theological works, two older but solid commentaries of the whole Bible, and some good stuff from Baker. If the NIV is important to you, you can get that separately.
I would definitely prefer to own L5 Silver.

Mark – Where did you get the old base package info?
Michael – Based on Mark's analysis, I concur. [:)]

I know you said that getting 4 then upgrading is not on the table, but you have an opportunity to get a larger collection of books than you would otherwise be able to get. I guess to see the difference you would have to get a list of all the books you have with 4, then add the "New to You" list and then compare to the books you would only get if you purchased 5 outright. I think you have the opportunity to get some books that are only available to Gold users (or above).
This is my second upgrade and I have some very nice collections since I always get to keep what I had before. Just something to think about. Forgive me if someone already said this.
