Sadly I don't have the AYBD resource that Faithlife Study Bible seems to use as the preferred dictionary.

Is there a way to set a default dictionary for the Faithlife Study Bible or am I stuck with the embedded links as is?

The links are hard-coded so can't be changed - sorry.

    Alan,

as I'm in the same situation to not own the AYBD, and the lock-symbol I see after opening the third level note and see it's again just an AYBD article gets a bit annoying for me as well, allow me to enlarge a bit on the explanation given by Graham:

The embedded links are what they are, and typically they are intended to point you to additional. scholarly information about the topic at hand. Thus, often just looking into "a" dictionary might give you only the information that already went into the FSB article. There are some good things in for us, though.

    • First, we're lucky, since AYBD is not the preferred dictionary of FSB, but LBD (the Lexham Bible Dictionary) is - which comes free with FSB. Someday (prior to the latest content updates to FSB) a Logos employee shared a list here in the forum that showed LBD makes up 23% of these resources links, AYBD comes behind with some15%, followed by ISBE, Eerdmans's and the number of IVB Dictionaries that make up the IVP Essential Reference Collection. The LBD links often are not below the text, but within (the linked words before the out-of-the-box symbol)
    • Second, most often we'll see two or three dictionaries linked which means while the AYBD may not work for you (locked symbol), you may find information in the ISBE or EBD nor ... you get the idea .... showing you the open book symbol.
    • Third, of course no one takes away your possibility to just use the plain Logos functionality of right-clicking on a certain word and firing Logos towards your most highly prioritized dictionary/encyclopedia resource.
    • Fourth - the new Logos 5 "sneak preview" (my words) feature - it will let you scroll through resources you don't own yet. In case of a dictionary like AYBD you may get the gist of some articles, or even the complete treatment of a shorter one such as Naohmi.

Hope this helps a bit. Some find consolation in the fact that AYBD wouldn't be fitting to their tastes anyway - others rejoice over the possibility to get it for a good bargain durcing the Logos upgarde sale.

    Hope this helps a bit,

    Mick
