Anyone have the suggested spec requirements to run L5 on win. I'm having trouble locating any on the main web site.
You may find them here. http://www.logos.com/support/Tech_FAQ#requirements

Logos 5 runs incredibly smooth and incredibly quick on my i7 Acer (8 G Ram).... (soon 2 years old)
Is there any reason whatsoever I should be thinking of Windows 8?
At Staples and Best Buy it is about 70.00 for Windows 8 Pro!
I don't know the official recommendation (which You can find or someone else can tell You), but based on experience:
EDIT: WATCH OUT: If You often use dictionaries and highlighting, the official recommendation 1280x1024 pixel monitor is really insufficient! Also true if You want to view two books at a time on the monitor.
For anyone interested, here is a link from Microsoft that states the minimum requirements of W8. Keep in mind that Microsoft has always based their requirements on the software in question, and does not take into account requirements of other software. Also, Microsoft's minimum requirements are just that (the bare minimum) and does not take into account user experience, so your machine will run with the minimum, however, it may take a day to boot up. [:)]
A good rule of thumb is to artificially double Microsoft's minimum, and set that as the minimum.

Hi Milford;
The only reason I can think of for you to be considering W8 (at this time) is for look and feel only (the user interface). What I generally do in cases such as this, is to upgrade when I upgrade my machine or 12 to 18 months later if my current hardware will handle it. My current main machine is a Core 2 Duo with 8GB, so I will be setting my sights on a new machine within a year. Upgrading my current one to W8 will just slow it down.
Hi Unix;
I can relate to this, as I had 2 monitors and decided to give my wife one of them. I surely miss that second monitor. [:)]
When I upgraded to L4 from L3 my system met just slightly above the min. requirements but still ran wearisomely slow. The bottle neck was the dynamic video RAM that portioned off of the system RAM. So shortly after committing to the L4 upgrade I had to commit to a new laptop. [:S]
I now have an AMD Athlon II X2 M300 with 4GB of RAM. Hard disk space is not my concern since I put in a larger HD and have 2TB of external space. I’m concerned that my system may be in the same boat as in the L4 upgrade… I’m wondering if the existing RAM/video memory will be adequate.
Budgeting for L5 is reasonable but I’m not sure about having to swing for a new laptop at the same time and I certainly don’t want to miss out on the current discounts.
Also, will we be able to run L4 and L5 at the same time like we did with L3 and L4?
I can’t think of a reason to upgrade a system you currently have, Milford. However, if you do decide to upgrade your current system you can get the Pro download from Microsoft for $39.99. If you want a disc and can wait for Black Friday, Best Buy will have the Pro disc for $54.99
Don't know anything about your windows options but...
L5 overwrites L4 so they cannot co-exist on the same machine because even if you installed the L4 program on a second account it would still try to upgrade to L5 whenever you fired it up.
The only (sensible) way would be to run L4 on an XP machine - the installer is programmed not to upgrade on the XP operating system.

I failed to see that this link had already been posted. I read the OP and the last 4-5 posts and failed to see the others.

Thanks, Erwin! I appreciate your writing! Actually, I sort of really knew that all along! *smile*
Peace to you; and I will take a deep breath and put "the bells and whistles" over in the Future where they belong. and get back to a real world, eh? After all, I do have a really lovely and "snappy" Logos 5!
You can upgrade to Windows 8 pro for $40 directly from Microsoft as a download. The $69.99 is for the physical media.
