Is it possible to run Logos5 in both OSs taking in to consideration that you correctly partition your hard drive and have the specs necessary for the installation?
Logos 5 is supported from Windows Vista upwards. So as long as you had a machine, or machines, setup with the different OS running correctly (and obviously only being used by one person to respect licensing requirements) then the answer to your question is yes.
Of course it could be more complicated if you wanted, were trying to, have a shared data folder between the two 'installations'. Hard to say without knowing more clearly what you are trying to achieve.

This should work fine. You would have to install Logos separately on each operating system, of course.
Another idea is to set up a virtual machine for Windows 7 and run it inside of Windows 8. I am using the free VMWare Player to run Windows 8 inside Windows 7 and it works fine. I am planning to install Logos 4 inside the virtual machine so I can have both Logos 4 and 5 on the same computer.

I hear that it has some performance benefits (because Microsoft does not load up so much junk immediately at system startup) but the user interface is a nightmare. But that's my personal opinion, I'm not worried because for my personal computing I use Macs. In our company Windows 8 not be officially supported — actually will be banned — again because of the schizophrenic user interface.
Just MHO of course...but I LOVE Windows 8...and it works well with a mouse and keyboard. With my SSD...it boots in 19 sec.
Like anything new...you need to learn a few new tips/tricks...but plenty of info on line in videos, etc.
The improvements are well worth the learning curve....

Is there any way to get Windows 8 to start with the Desktop rather than the Start screen?
Get a desktop Start menu (there are a few when you google "start menu for windows 8") and they offer a way to go straight to the desktop.
I haven't had any problems with Win 8 yet. It basically is an updated Win 7 with a tablet shell in place of the start menu.
It works well, but takes some getting use to.
Nonetheless, it is one of the first steps in the complete convergence of tablet-desktop software, where in the next years tablets will have a complete Win operating system, and be powerful enough to run any desktop app. Face of the future, as it were.
