5.0a Release Candidate 2 (5.0.1.0220) is available for download. An RC is considered a stable version.

To update to 5.0a RC 2, enter the Update Now command if you’ve switched to the beta channel before. If you currently have a stable version installed (such as 5.0 SR-4) and do not want to receive future beta updates, follow the instructions on this thread. If you want to receive future beta updates, enter the Set Update Channel to Beta command to download RC 2.

  • Hi Tonya. I prefer the old splash screen, but if you have to change it, can it be made the same size as the old one with the new colours? Thanks.

follow the instructions on this thread.

    Tonya,

We tried to point out in the "RC release" thread in the Logos 5 forum that this has the confusing Logos 4 references. "logos 4"  should be made generic "logos" (except in the links section).

Also,  it doesn't help you NOT receive future beta updates! I know what you are trying to say, but it only works if there is a link for L5. Seeing there isn't you get to receive the beta AND future ones.

If you want to receive the current Beta cycle, and then the next Stable, but NOT future Betas, it's pretty simple:

    • Run the command Set Update Channel to Beta
    • Let Logos update to the Beta
    • Run the command Set Update Channel to Default

You will continue to receive all beta releases in the current cycle, and be smoothly transitioned into Stable once this Beta cycle is complete.

I suppose that last bit could be added to the linked article.

Your first statement is incorrect whilst the last one is correct! In order to NOT receive future beta updates you must

    • Run the command Set Update Channel to Beta
    • Let Logos update to the Beta
    • Run the command Set Update Channel to Stable

Default is not a channel identifier. A Beta release on Default will use the Beta channel.  A Stable release on Default will use the Stable channel. An RC is usually a Stable release even if only available on the Beta channel!  This can be really confusing, so we don't talk too much about it...

    Dave,

You've misunderstood what Martin said. He said:

If you want to receive the current Beta cycle, and then the next Stable

The instructions he gave were quite correct. If you followed his instructions, you'd get all the betas for 5.0a, but none of the betas for 5.0b (or 5.1 or whatever comes next).

The only drawback to his method is that if you use it, you only get get the first release candidate, you don't get subsequent release candidates (although that doesn't matter too much because you'll still get the final release version, when it comes).

I said it was confusing... I was running from my point about Logos' instructions thinking Martin was illustrating how to do what they had intended  i.e. not remain on Beta.
