Help with understanding the differance between Logos 4 and Logos 5

Hi to everyone. I'm not sure what the hubbub is all about. I own the Scholar’s Library: Platinum (JG) {Logos 4}

I am considering buying Logos 5 Platinum. What is the real difference between each program suite? (I mean what books or products are actually different. I can't seem to find any direct comparison between the two. I want to compare them "apples to apples and oranges to oranges")

My next question is: If I purchase the new Logos 5, Do I keep all my previous books and such that I've picked up over the yr or so that I've owned L4? How much would it cost to just buy the books and things that are different in both packages then wait for a "Cross" program to upgrade me to L5?

Also if the company is working on a new "upgrade" I think it would be nice to let us know when were ready to buy just to let us know that sometime in the near future (within 6 months) there will be an upgrade to logos. So if we choose we can wait or buy now.

Any and all help is welcomed. I thank you in advance for your help on this matter.

Hi Michael! First, welcome to the forums!

First, let me explain that there is a difference between an L5 base package and the L5 software engine. Also, let me assure you that any resource purchases, including your previous base package, will remain with you. If you choose to purchase a new base package, the new resources will be added to your account. The upgrade price will factor in any previous purchases… you will only be paying for new resources. If you don't want to purchase a new base package, you can purchase the minimal cross grade. This will give you the necessary data sets to give you the new features of L5. If you don't want to do that, you can wait for the free L5 engine, which will be available early next year. You will not be able to use the new features which require the additional data sets.

As I said earlier, there is a difference between the base package (which you paid for), the data sets (which you paid for) and the software engine (which is free). If you had a choice between the previous base package and the new base package, who knows which you would have chosen. The problem is that you won't know whats in the new base package! For example, I purchased my base package a few months after the BECNT and the NIV84 was taken out. I would have been really disappointed if I had waited 6 months just to miss out on those resources!

what books or products are actually different

if you check http://www.logos.com/comparison and apply the "New to you" filter, you'll see only those books that are new to you (regardless of whether you bought your existing ones in a base package or individually).

If you have two monitors or can select and print it, etc, "you might" be able to properly compare. I am aware of NO other "fool-proof method.
