I bought the "starter" for my son who will going to Word of Life in the fall of 2013. I down loaded it on my Mac, (my son also has a mac, I had planned to share the software with him) did I screw up? I want him to be able to use it at WOL but from what i am reading I will need to purchase another one Sad . Our Pastor is giving a class on how to use the software and I wanted my son and I to take it together. I don't really understand the agreement where it describes sharing with immediate family. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Welcome to the forums. I hope you come back often as it is a great way to ask questions and learn how to maximize Logos.

There is a current thread that is discussing this very issue. http://community.logos.com/forums/t/63382.aspx

I think that Alabama24 described it the best when he said "There is absolutely no limit… for devices YOU use for YOUR personal
usage. Your license is for one user… install it on as many devices as
you use. You may not, however, install it on other devices for fellow
staff members, parishioners, etc. The one exception: You may install the
app and resources on devices for your spouse and/or minor children
living at home provided that they are not using the resources
    vocationally."

    I hope this helps.

First, welcome to the forums! [:)]

Unfortunately, you will need to purchase another one. The agreement is for "one user." Logos allows this to extend to a spouse for non-vocational use and minor children still living at home. The good news is that you should be able to get an educational discount for him... Also, it sounds like you would not need to get this until later next year.

EDIT: I see that you got to it first Bruce! [:)]

    Welcome to the forums.

Yes, the licenses to resources are for one individual on as many devices as that person uses. This has been described by Logos as requiring 2 licenses in a home where both adults are in the ministry professional but not necessarily where one is using it casually. Your son will need a separate license when he's WOL and may be eligible for an academic discount. But I's certain that Bob P. (the president of Logos) wouldn't mind your sharing a copy for the purposes of the class. Remember that the software itself is free - it is the resources (books and datasets) that one buys a license for. If you and your son use the same copy for your pastor's class remember that you must both use the same login and what one does effects the other.

Thank you Bruce. I did see that thread but it didn't really address my question. So if I understand this, my son and I can have this on both of our laptops, take the course together and use it individually. But, when he goes to school he will need his own license?

Yes, that's what I believe Bob P's intent to be.
