If I change the background to a slide I noticed that I lose the text formatting and have to redo it.... is this a "bug" or just the way it works?
Proclaim dynamically changes the formatting of the slide to best fit the background. The default style of that background is intended to replace whatever changes you have made.
For a simple example on why it does this: if a white text over a black background slide was created, and then someone switched the background to white, Proclaim automatically changes the text to black (instead of keeping it white, which you would not be able to see).
Okay. I completely understand the thought process behind that. What's say though that we make it an option that can be turned on for folks to who need more of a "Plug and Play" atmosphere in their software.
For me, a graphic designer who is constantly, CONSTANTLY redoing text formatting in this software, this may be the ONE thing for which I skip Proclaim altogether. We are a new church plant, my pastor is really excited about the Signals features (as am I, honestly) so we're trying to make it work but SERIOUSLY.
Coming from ProPresenter, I knew I would need to get used to the way things work with Proclaim since it's a different software, and that's okay. I'm glad that Proclaim is making good choices for people who otherwise can't make those good choices themselves. But I can, and like to, make those choices for myself and I need a software that's going to allow me to do that.
Long story... I can't buy in to Proclaim's exciting features until I can prove to myself and my team that it works week in and week out to give me the level of control I expect. Please hear my heart in this matter: not a heart of complaint, just a heart that wants to inform you how passionate I am about being able to pick my text formatting and not have it rewritten each time I choose a new background.
There has to be a better way. I had a slide all nice and customized. Fonts, Custom headers, etc... all I wanted to do was re-import a background and then I had to redo EVERYTHING.
Thanks for your input on this guys. You're insight is valuable for our UX and development team. We will look at this more closely an update you with any planned changes.
