We use worship cds that are timed with words in power point. Does proclaim have the ability to duplicate this process? I added the timed power point but the timing was off.
You can do this with Proclaim. With Proclaim, there are different types of slides: Song, Content, Bible Passages, Video, etc. The "Content" slides have a "Set Timer" feature which allows them to auto-advance after a certain amount of seconds, which you can input. We have a "Pre-Service" loop which has announcement and welcome slides that automatically advance after 8-10 seconds. In your case, you would enter the lyrics of your worship CDs, time out how long it takes to sing, and then enter that time as the "auto-advance" time.
The "Song" slides do *not* have this feature, as far as I know, mainly because during a time or worship/singing, the verses may be repeated, or if someone put in the wrong time, the slides would be advancing too quickly or too slowly compared to what was supposed to be sung. I like that the songs do not have an auto-advance feature, personally, because it allows the worship leaders a bit of freedom during worship, and having a human being advancing the slides just makes more sense.
Now the question may be asked: what are the differences between Song and Content slides?? Simply put, not much. A Content slide is a "basic" slide whereas a "Song" slide has access to the Logos music database, allowing you to add lyrics from their database, rather than typing them in yourself. I hope this helps!
Hi Charles
I don't use Powerpoint but Keynote, however when I want to swap between the two I set up both but in different spaces prior to the service.
Proclaim allows itself to be moved off screen even when on air so flicking between spaces is quick and unobtrusive.
