Saving song in Proclaim

Hello,

Once we add a song to a presentation, is it possible to save that song the way we've formatted it? Meaning, we add a song, then put the verses and choruses in the order our band does them, can we save it in Proclaim in our "format"? It's just a tad tedious having to format the songs each week. Also, being able to save a song in Proclaim would be handy when adding a song from scratch that is not on CCLI's list.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

    Samuel,

Proclaim will save your songs just the way you format them. When you adjust any song that has been added from CCLI SongSelect or that has been adjusted from your own library, it is saved in the "My Songs" section with the changes.

You can also upload your current database of songs from a text file. Simply export them from your current system and then upload these file into Proclaim by clicking on your name in the app to get the drop down of options and choose, "Upload songs". Songs uploaded here will also be saved in your "My Songs" section.

To access the "My Songs" section simply search for song and it will appear.

    Hey Matthew...

Is there a way to save two different versions of the same song?  We use Proclaim church-wide, so the song order/version we use in "big church" is not always the way we do it in the high school or college ministries.  Is there a way to have two versions in the "my songs" section?

    Hi Megan

Just put the song in with a different title.

    e.g.

for the young 'Holy is the Lamb'

for the older 'Holy is the Sheep'

    tootle pip

That will show up as part of the Title on the Title/First Lyric slide though won't it?

    Thanks! :)

Guess so - but you could make the change more subtle - a sort of code.

    Holy is the Sheep

    Holy is the Sheep *

    ??

    tootle pip

You could use the customize feature to work around this limitation though it's a bit involved.

    1. Customize the Title slide by changing the Alpha of the Title caption to 0, essentially hiding the normal Title caption
    2. Add your own custom caption to the Title slide and set the value to the actual song title

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! You have seriously just made our ministry through proclaim a 1,000 times more effective!  We were so concerned about keeping our music organized between all the various ministries.  This is a HUGE relief and help!!  PRAISE THE LORD!! Thank you, thank you!! You have no idea!

For me this didn't help.... In Proclaim 1.2, I can only select "add caption" on a Lyric Slide. The "add caption" option is grayed-out for Title Slides. :(

OK it does work somewhat, in the following way (on Proclaim 1.2, Windows) ...

    1. Customize the TITLE SLIDE by changing the font size to 0, essentially hiding the normal Title
    2. Customize the LYRIC SLIDE by adding your own custom caption by selecting the blue  "add caption" text (this is not an option on the Title Slide). It is important to NAME YOUR NEW CAPTION.... "Title".
    3. On the Song Edit Screen, select one of the following 2 options for the title to appear...
    • Show title on first "lyric" slide or...
    • Show title on "every" slide

NOTE: The "title slide" and "final" slide options will not display then new "Title" caption.

    Hello Dave,

Just to provide some input on why the workaround Scott suggested in this post no longer works. In past version, we changed the way customize behaves so only one of a main caption (such as title can be created) because users were having problems with duplicate captions having the same text. In order to fix this, we just disabled the ability to have multiple main captions, among other various changes. I am glad you found a workaround for your issue here though.

Four years on, and I'm still looking for a way to do this! It's a real pain we can't save different versions of the same song without giving them a different title.

This is my personal Faithlife account. On 1 March 2022, I started working for Faithlife, and have a new 'official' user account. Posts on this account shouldn't be taken as official Faithlife views!

This worked fine for me today, except instead of adding a "caption", I added a "Text Box".

As for keeping different arrangements separate, you can use the "attribution" field to name the arrangement, if you want.

I'm looking in to this too and it surprises me the options aren't better here. I used Proclaim for the first time this past week and looked at my "saved songs". It did save the lyrics and order of verses and chorus, but it didn't save the background (image) or the placement of the lyric text box on the slide (went back to center/middle when I had done center/bottom with a bottom justified text box for lower thirds). So even with "my saved" songs, there is still a bunch of work I'm going to have to do on a song I've previously used. That's not great.

Our answer for this is Re-use Items. From Proclaim go to Add Item > Reuse Items.
it will automatically show every item used in the past, so by typing in the name of the song you can retrieve the song plus the background and all formatting you had done.

This goes for every item too. So you can think of it as an auto save library of all your services items/slides.

as for having different arrangements of songs , we have a feature in the works that will allow you to have various arrangements (different lyrics or verse order) saved per song.

[Y][Y] That's a very helpful start, thanks, and I'm looking forward to the new feature, too.

I'm interested in this feature as well. I have multiple versions of songs which I differentiate by my own code in the title. I find this much easier than viewing each version. I look forward to the Proclaim team's usual ingenious solution.
