Links to Locked Books
I wish links to books I don't own would lead me to there page on Logos.com so at least I could see what it is and maybe buy it if it was something I thought had value.

[:O]But they do!Even better, they first open a preview tab, which may even contain the information you were looking for (such as a paragraph from AYBD), gives a really good impression of how it would be if you owned the resource AND links to the product page on Logos.com!

But they are! Just opened my FSB app on the Kindle Fire and the explaantion to John 1:25 links the same BECNT commentary ba John Koestenberger . clicking the link will open the Logos store to exctly this resource, with a "buy now" button. I have no idea how to generate screenshots on my device, but to me it seems the app does exactly what Kevin asked for in his post.

I get the same error as Kevin on my iPad It seems the iOS version doesn't work the same as the Android version.

I realized this must be an iOS problem since Apple restricts links to external sites for the purpose of buying things.
As for ISBE not willing to pay Logos for something I can get for free in a little app like e-Sword that works as well. I know Logos books are better because of all the Logos magic sauce they add, but for a dictionary I disagree. I'll do without.

yes, most probably. On Android it looks like this:
when I click on the locked BECNT resource:
(and taking a screenshot from a not rooted non-HD Kindle Fire is a nightmare - it includes installing the Android SDK and jumping ridiculous loops to get it done on some extra-special debug driver...)

You do realize that the free ISBE available in e-Sword (1915) is not the same work as the ISBE referenced by the FSB, which is the revised ISBE (1979)? From the revised ISBE 1979 description: "It is a brand new work. It only shares the name with the former edition. Don't confuse this with the public domain 1915 edition of ISBE."

Just became aware of this when I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't link to ISBE which I own.. Then realized I have the old one.the FSB app is in general amazing but I gotta say I am a bit surprised that the majority of references are locked even with a gold library

As good as the FSB is, ultimately it ends up being for many people a big advertisement for products. For myself the majority of links are open, but for a new user I can understand it being exceptionally frustrating, especially when you are often not even directed to the Lexham dictionary when there is an appropriate article there.

Do you mean when you click on a resource you don't own you get a message telling you you don't own it?
As above, that is how it works on iOS devices.
If you mean something else please clarify

I often recommend the Faithlife Study Bible app to others, but find the links to other resources odd, especially given the presence of the excellent Lexham Bible Dictionary. Simple example. John 1:28 note has a link to the AYBD article on "Bethany Beyond the Jordan." But the Lexham Bible Dictionary has an entry on that exact same thing! And from the study notes, users who have only the Faithlife Study Bible wouldn't even know that, which goes against the point of offering this great resource for free.
I can understand Logos trying to sell other resources, this is a business after all, and perhaps I am simply misunderstanding the layout of the faithlife notes.

Just a thought - is it possible that the LBD added the article after that section of LSB was released? They both have undergone significant development after the initial release.
However, I agree with you Danny, especially since I've recently been reading some of the LBD articles and have been very impressed by them.

We've added many articles to Lexham Bible Dictionary since the links were initially put in to Faithlife Study Bible. The dictionary article on "Bethany Beyond the Jordan" was not released until July 2014. I don't know what the plan is for adding links for newer articles. It likely will have to be done manually, but I will look into it.

I don't know if this is the right place to make a suggestion but perhaps they could include the full name of the resource in the iPad/iPhone version of the software? I certainly don't mind heading over to the Logos store and doing a manual search for a resource if I had the full name. But LGB:G111 (for example) gives me zero useful information to search on.
Another option would be to make the appropriate resources in the Logos store searchable by the abbreviation used in the study Bible. Or just provide an acronym list/resource list with the study Bible. Any of those options would alleviate at least some of the frustration iPad/iPhone users are feeling when we get that error message!

I concur! It’s 2020 and it’s still the same. I’m on my iPhone at 2:00 a.m. and can’t find the full name for LBG:G111. I’m sure if I pulled it up on my computer it would appear in that version of the app but I can’t do that without waking my wife. I really hope they improve upon this in the mobile apps.
