Hi there. I'm having trouble downloading the offered NIV to add to the Faithlife Study Bible. Can anyone offer any help? Thank you!
Hi Mark! Welcome to the forums. [:)]
I had the same problem today... I have a secondary account so that I can "see thwart other users see." I'm am not sure what Logos intended to convey about the NIV... Did they just mean that it would be available, or that users would actually be granted a license? (I don't know). Hopefully Logos can shed some light. FYI - some resources Logos grants you access to without actually granting you a license. These resources are available with online access, but are unavailable for download. This may be the case with the NIV.
The Logos Blog article isn't clear, but the Vyrso Voice Blog says
"Download the world’s most popular translation, the New International Version, free through April 8."
Thanks for your reply. I sent a note to some help line thing asking that very question. I do have access to NIV right now through the Faithlife app, but having it offline is what I'd really like. . I'm about to be working on a cruise ship for the next 7 months and spotty access to Internet.
I notice youve got the logos 5 good package. How's it working for you? Do you have all those resources on your iPad
Mark,
In the Faithlife app. locate Library (Home Page, upper left corner, page through to Resources, bottom of the list) and look for the NIV. On the right hand side of the listing there is a little "i" in a circle. Tap on that and you'll have the option to download it (or you should). Once downloaded it can be used offline.
I really like it... I have both an L4 base package (platinum) and an L5 package (gold), in addition to a number of other purchases, including 300+ Vyrso resources (many were free or ~$1.99).
Personally, I dont recommend that most users download their entire library UNLESS they will be without internet. When you say "spotty," do you mean "once a week," or do you mean "in only some places on ship"? An iPad can be used for so many things, I hate to cram it full of books, when I can have nearly instantaneous access via wifi. Also, sometimes things go wrong and the best fix is to delete the app, which means losing all your downloaded resources. It is no problem for me (I have about 100 downloads out of 3200).
Hi Mark,
When a new user downloads the FSB for the first time and signs in, the NIV will be unlocked and available instantly. We are currently working on ensuring that the NIV is unlocked for all current users of the FSB that sign in before April 8th. Please be assured that the NIV will be in your library by the 9th. A quick way to get the NIV instantly would be to delete the FSB app and reinstall it using your Logos/Faithlife credentials.

Joel, thanks for making things clear. So very soon those who take advantage of this offer will in fact be able to use the NIV offline. Very nice.

I just tried this and it worked... but I still got a message saying that the NIV was ineligible for download without a license. (For clarification, I was using a secondary account... not my primary one with my base packages).
Thank you all for the help and info. Joel, I did as you suggested and reinstalled FSB and was then able to download the NIV.
Thanks!!

Actually. that statement is not true. I assume that by "NIV" Logos refers to the 2011 revised NIV version. It was the 1984 version that was the "world's most popular Bible". The fact is that the new "NIV" has been rejected by enough people to make it somewhere between 3rd and 5th in popularity. It is being given away because people don't want it.
Only the 1984 version would be the "world's most popular". Since the publisher refuses to sell the 1984 version, it can no longer the world's best seller. The version available for download is definitely not.
