Logos 5 Crashes on Start Up

I've seen very similar posts that have to do with Logos 4, but when I go to start up Logos 5 it crashes before it gets to the homepage. I've held down CTRL when it starts up and started it with a blank layout and it doesn't crash, as long as I "work offline". I've tried deleting the "PreferencesManager.db" files from the "LocalUserPreferences" and "UserPreferences" folders (like I've read someone suggest somewhere else), but it hasn't helped. This is the error message I get when I try to login:

"Logos Bible Software 5 has stopped working"

   The "problem details" are:

"Description:
  Stopped working

Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name:    CLR20r3
  Problem Signature 01:    logos.exe
  Problem Signature 02:    5.0.2.743
  Problem Signature 03:    513f6200
  Problem Signature 04:    System.Data.SQLite
  Problem Signature 05:    1.0.81.1021
..."

My operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium, if that helps.

Joshua - first, welcome to the forums. [:)]

A word of caution... It is never a good idea to take someone else's medicine! Just because you are experiencing similar symptoms, doesn't mean you have the same problem. [;)]

The best course of action now is to have you enable and post logs. You can find a link to instructions in my signature line.

It took me a while to getting around to it, but here are the files you were asking for.

Thanks for the logs Joshua. Good job. There wasn't anything in them that my experience level can diagnose… we will have to wait for a techie to come along. Out of curiosity… You said that you can get things working if you load to a blank layout… but you implied that you can only do this if you work offline. Do you mean when you use the "control" button trick, you tell Logos to work offline, and if you don't do so, it crashes?

There is a known issue with the home page. Do you normally load to it, or to a saved layout?

I just recently got Logos for the first time, so I haven't really had the chance to use it yet. I checked it out, and it's not the loading to a blank layout that keeps Logos from crashing, it's working offline using the CTRL button when it starts up. If I try to log in (or if I try to use the search function on the homepage after hitting "work offline"), it crashes.

Weird, because the problem is with the Personal Book database.

Delete C:\Users\Joshua\AppData\Local\Logos5\Documents\rvn02co0.cpm\PersonalBooks\PersonalBookManager.db to recycle bin and restart Logos.

If I try to log in (or if I try to use the search function on the homepage after hitting "work offline"), it crashes.

There may be other things wrong. If the above doesn't work then tell us about your experiences installing Logos

I have been using Logos 5 for a while and last Sunday I experienced the same crash problem.  I uninstalled the program before checking this post and re-installed the program.  It has been working fine until this morning when it crashed again.  I used the control key and the program is working.

Checking the forums is always a good thing… remember, however, that just because someone has a similar symptom, might not mean they have the same problem. A person can crash their car because the breaks go out… or because they are texting while driving. [:P] The point being: be careful about taking someone else's medicine. [;)]

re-installed the program.  It has been working fine until this morning when it crashed again.  I used the control key and the program is working.

If you are experiencing the home page bug, a fix will come with a software update… I don't know if that will be in the next release version or in a service release. Reinstalling will have no effect. If the crashes are unrelated to you being on the homepage, please create a new thread an post logs.
