Question about file size
I have been trying to upload a zip file of Alexander Campbell's periodical The Christian Baptist. The zip file is 4.2 MB. The server keeps refusing it. Is there a file size limit? I hate to break it up. If there is a file limit, should I just put it on the discussion board & point people to that?
Suggestions? Could it be something other than file size?

Until I find out whether or not I can upload the Christian Baptist (1823-1829) on the forums, you can get it at my PBB site: www.calhabig.com/PBB.htm.
It is listed under Alexander Campbell

My memory may be faulty but I think I had to divide a PBB zip file to stay within some (undocumented) limit.

Calvin,
I suspect it's not so much a size limit as a server timeout, but I've been wrong before. Either way, as MJ suggests you can zip it into size limited files.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

I guess I have not a clue how to do that. It may just have to stay on my website.

Did anyone ever get an answer to this?
I finished Dorothy Day's docx; it works out to about 5meg and is refused. I've no intention of splitting it up. If anyone wants the zipfile for docx/cover I'll email for the time being.

I don't know your e-mail address nor how to get it. I would love to see the file.
Thanks.

Let me know if you didn't receive; uploaded pretty quick.

Here are instructions how to create a new zip file as several parts when there's a maximum size limit (assumes you have WinZip):
http://kb.winzip.com/help/winzip/help_splitdlg.htm
If you don't have WinZip and don't want to pay for it, there's an open source utility called 7zip which can also do this:
http://www.newsgroupreviews.com/guides/7-zip-split-archive.html
And here's how to do it if you're on a Mac:

Thanks Rosie.
This is such an old post the PBs were for Logos 3. I am still working on the last volume to get the series ready for Logos 4/5.

Oh, sorry. I saw that the last few posts on this thread were recent and didn't bother to check the date on your post.

Hi Calvin
First of all many thanks for all your work on PBB's. It is very much appreciated & I mean that!
As a retired Baptist minister I was interested in the Christian Baptist you refer to in your post.
I must have missed this away back in 2009 & just discovered it during the past weekend.
I have tried to pick it up on your site using the address as given above but all I get is a 404 error.
Is it no longer there or are you still working on it for Logos 4/5? Thanks for your help.
Kind regards
Gerald

e-mail address
Dear Calvin:
You have been very generous and helpful to many on these forums.
I would hate to see you "penalized," that is...there have been reports that automatic "bots" can harvest complete email addresses when left in posts like this, which led to them receiving spam etc.
It is now to late for you to change but a Forum administrator might be able to remove the reference as it is now.
What was suggested to me and to others was to space out the sections of your email address and to substiture the actual word "dot" for the period etc so the email cannot be harvested.
ie. cal dot habig at g mail dot com [or something similar]. I'm pretty sure that most folks here can "decode" such entries.
Be Blessed Brother

Hmmm...thanks. I hadn't considered that.

I would like to see the PBB if it is for L4/L5. I do not have L3.
Thanks, Calvin.
