Why is 2 Timothy 2:17 tagged "false teacher" in Bible Facts but not 2 Timothy 2:18? The clause visualizations seem to support 2:18 as does the clause search.
Why is "opponent" in 2 Timothy 2:25-26 tagged as "false teacher" both in the clause search and in Bible facts? "False" I get but I see no indication of "teacher".

I get the idea that "A False Teacher" is a "generic label" and not associated with specific individuals.
The clause search match is - I think - against the "them" in the second half of 2:17 "among them are...
But then verse 18 is talking about two specific individuals and so the generic label is not used.
Not saying its right but it would explain what you are seeing[:)]

Why is 2 Timothy 3:2 ff tagged in the clause search as "false teacher"? A smaller portion is tagged as "false teacher" in the Bible facts. I would expect entries under "false teacher" to all share the characteristics of the noun "teacher" before looking at the subclass identified by the attribute "false".
I agree with you. However, it appears to be a generic label for people with false beliefs/bad behavior. I would expect it to be used only where it ties back to teachers broadly defined.
I have alerted the correct department of this question, I will let you know when I hear a response.
I have some questions about the annotation here as well: we're looking into it.

2 Tim 2:17-18 is analyzed like this: In v.17, “them” refers to the false teachers, while Hymenaeus and Philetus are individuals (belonging to that group, but not tagged directly as such). Verse 18 refers to Hymenaeus and Philetus directly but not to the generic group of false teachers.
While it might be useful (and perhaps even uncontroversial) for us to add the tag “false teacher” to every specific person who fits that role, we did not attempt to do so. We prefer to use more specific tags when available, and generic tags otherwise.
As for the relationship between “false teacher” and “teacher”: I suppose we could update every instance of a “false teacher” to also be a “teacher” but if we did we would probably want to consider a similar mapping for all other related concepts. I’m not sure we really want to do that. Instead our approach has been to pick the most specific relevant label. (There are some exceptions to this, most involving time-specific people groups and artifacts.)
Peter, I wasn't clear as you missed the point on "teacher" and "false teacher" - the concept of "teacher" is completely missing. The concept present in these cases is more like "people with false beliefs". I understand and agree with your use of the more specific tags.
