Something I was working on (even before coming to work this morning) is a strategy to bring the world of our pioneers into the Logos ecosystem. The SDA Church did not arise out of a vacuum. There were cultural, theological and political influences (among others) that affected denominational practices, politics, and even theological discussions.

I'm thinking, for example, of the abolitionist movement (early in our movement, obviously) and then the prohibitionist movement--dear to the heart of Ellen White. Few Adventists today are aware of the depth of interaction that she had with the WCTU (Women's Christian Temperance Union). She spoke at their rallies and was beloved by that organization. I will pursue historical information about that organization in the public domain, along with other primary documents about the world of our pioneers regarding the politics of that day (church and societal), social reforms, theological influences upon the church (e.g., Christian Connexion, Holiness Methodism), etc.

I'm casting the net wide and deep, and it will take time to search out these documents, get them into PrePub to fund their tagging and indexing into the Logos system. I invite your input: what specifically would you like to see us put into a collection regarding the environment into which our pioneers brought present truth?
