Iphone / Itouch
Will the Iphone LOGOS application work just as well on the iTouch.
My provider does not support iPhone but I would like to get an iTouch if Logos will work on it.

your only limitation is your need to access wi-fi. if you have that, you can access the books that are available.

Short answer is: yes, Logos for iPhone is working the same way on iTouch. The problem is you will have to be always on WiFi, so you can use your books. With the iPhone you can use it also via phone connection of the iPhone.

Yep, currently you need an active internet connection to use the app. We're working on limited offline support, which will hopefully improve the usefulness a lot for iPod users

Bryan,
Thanks for the information! Could you clarify what "limited offline support" means? I'm quite comfortable with not being able to do everything offline that can be accomplished online, but I'm wondering if you can share any of your goals for offline use of the product?

Bob,
Could you give us any ideas as to what your goals are for offline support for the iphone/ipod app?

The ability to cache out a few chapters of a given book would be great. Even better would be to have all of the information from the Passage Guide, and Word Study to be cached so that you can do it while online and then take it with you to read through.
Keep up the great work. [:)]

My biggest desire would be to read books while not connected to the internet. Being able to have even a small number of books at a time downloaded onto the ipod would be a blessing!

Perfect - Absolutely - This would be great.

I agree.

can you download the content so that it is available when there is no WiFi?

Not at the moment. Logos are aware that it's the #1 requested feature, but no news yet.

So, with the iPod Touch, one cannot transfer the books/resouces one has for Logos 4 on one's computer to the iPod Touch and read/access them without Internet/WiFi connection? For example, I have BDAG and HALOT on my computer. If I were to purchase the iPod Touch and not have WiFi access, I could not connect the iPod Touch to my computer, install the Logos application and transfer BDAG/HALOT to the iPod Touch to read? Please confirm. [:)]

We've submitted an update to Apple that includes offline support. It is currently awaiting approval before making it into the app store, but hopefully within a week or 2 you'll be able to read books offline.

I have an iPod Touch, and that is true. You MUST have an active internet connection to be able to read anything on your device. It is definitely a pain, but I have found that the stuff I need access to when I'm away from wi-fi I have access to via another program I own that provides offline access to their limited bibles and books. When Logos finally goes offline with their app, I may be able to drop the other program I use.

Bryan replied while I was typing mine. That is great news! I can't wait for it to be approved by Apple!

That is good news, however, be sure and give us a choice of offline or online....my memory space on my original 2G Iphone is getting almost full....

I got the update and turned off on airplane mode and turned off wifi. It lets me go through a couple of pages and then says not available. So my questions is this -- how will this be cached and how much control will I have.
To me offline reading means that I can open any book I have available and read it without an internet connection. Right now that is clearly NOT what the Logos iPhone app is delivering in my initial test.

Kevin,
Brian posted this today around 9am, so it will be another week or 2 from today or so. It really depends on Apple at this point. The update you probably got is one that I got about 2 weeks or s ago. You can not have the update that will include offline reading of resources, as it has not been release by Apple yet.
Hope this helps

Kevin, I humbly stand corrected, Apple has released this update ever so quickly....

Make sure the whole book has finished downloading before you switch to airplane mode.

Tried it just now, with a large commentary.
The book downloaded for offline use, ever so quickly.
Make sure the whole book has finished downloading before you switch to airplane mode.
Does this mean that I have to run around with my arms extended out, making airplane noises?

Chris is correct. I've updated the original post to reflect this fact.
