Baker Academic Biblical Studies Bundle (85 vols.)

I ordered it, and it was supposed to ship today, but it hasn't shipped yet. Still sitting active on my Orders page.
Anyway I never have time to get first impressions on the first day a huge bundle like this downloads. I can barely even find time to tag all the new resources, let alone open a few of them to see what's inside to help me decide what tags to assign them. You'll probably get better impressions by looking at the sample pages than I would be able to get in a day of having the actual resources. I find it overwhelming being on the receiving end of so many new resources every month. It's like trying to get a drink from a fire hose.

Rosie, have you drink the fire hose? [:D] Anyway would you be so sweet (as always) [Y] and make a screenshot of all the logos4 files from this bundle when you wake up? There's some I'm interested to buy them in the future and want to add them as logosres links. There's more accessible this way from inside the program. Thanks, Martin.Rosie Perera said:

It still hasn't shipped. And neither has "Fanny Crosby: The Hymn Writer" which is still listed as shipping on Aug 1. I wonder what's up with that?

I got mine yesterday?!?!? You may want to inquire why yours has not been unlocked.

So maybe you can do for Martin what he requested of me. Screenshot of all the logos4 files. I probably won't get around to it. A lot on my plate these days.

It's from Vyrso:
http://vyrso.com/product/33329/fanny-crosby-the-hymn-writer
It's from the "Heroes of the Faith" series, which also includes:
- Amy Carmichael: Selfless Servant of India
- Billy Graham: The Greatest Evangelist
- Charles Spurgeon: The Prince of Preachers
- Corrie ten Boom: World War II Heroine
- C.S. Lewis: Creator of Narnia
- David Livingstone: Explorer & Missionary
- D.L. Moody: The American Evangelist
- Jim Elliot: Missionary Martyr
- John Newton: Author of "Amazing Grace"
- Sojourner Truth: American Abolitionist
- Watchman Nee: Sufferer for China
Each one is $3.74 (cheaper than Kindle in most cases). A great price, for a nice series of biographies. They're each a couple hundred pages in print, though the page numbering is not in the digital version.

Thanks - Ordered and already received. No clue why you don't have it yet. [Maybe they are sending your more expensive ones first?]
The year is 1910. The place is Perth Amboy, New Jersey. A cab driver stops his horses to pick up two passengers: a middle-aged clergyman and a withered old woman, apparently blind, ravaged, and wasted almost beyond belief, bent nearly double with age. But as the coach jolts along to the railroad depot, the hackman becomes aware of something unusual about this ancient woman. She speaks to the clergyman in a voice not dry and quavering, but clear and high, mellow and young.

Done, and they fixed it for me. Still staggering at the overwhelming number of new books to be tagged and to become familiar with, so it'll be a while before I have anything to report about them. All I can muster now is that there are a couple by an old professor/friend of mine, Gordon Fee, which I'm very pleased to see. People had requested his magisterial work on the Holy Spirit in Paul's writings, God’s Empowering Presence, a long time ago, and it's good to finally have it. His Pauline Christology is also a very highly regarded book (5 stars on Amazon). Now if only they would get Paul, the Spirit, and the People of God (another 5 star classic of his).

I do now. It was some error that they hadn't noticed. And some other error with the huge Baker collection, but I've got both now.

I finally finished tagging. The tags I used most: BibleIntroduction; Jesus; Paul; Background; Judaism. Pretty interesting bunch. Lots that could be used as college textbooks, nothing super technical. I tagged about half of them as "reading list". I now have 261 books in my Logos "reading list" so I may not live long enough to get through them. [;)] I started a reading plan for one, "Constructing Jesus" by Dale Allison, which I'd had on my Amazon wish list for a while.

Thank you very much David [Y] and thanks to Rosie too [:D]. It still misses "The Old Testament: Text and Context, 3rd. ed., by Victor H. Matthews and James C. Moyer". Can you provide this link too? Appreciated, Martin.David J. Wilson said:

There seems to be some real treasures in the Baker bundle. I really need to figure out a reading plan, put it on the calendar and do it.

I agree. I looked at all the 85 books in detail on Friday and tagged them in my library, and there was a LOT of great books, possibly more than in any other bundle I have bought from Logos. Several of the books I already had in paper-form and have enjoyed a lot.
If I should highlight a few great books out the many, I am particularly excited that Brad Young now is available to a larger audience, with four must-read books:
The Parables: Jewish Tradition and Christian Interpretation
Meet the Rabbis: Rabbinic Thought and the Teachings of Jesus
Paul the Jewish Theologian: A Pharisee among Christians, Jews, and Gentiles
Jesus the Jewish Theologianhttp://www.logos.com/product/22887/baker-academic-new-testament-backgrounds#012
Brad Young is a Christian who studied Judaism and the New Testament at Hebrew University in Jerusalem under David Flusser, who is often recognized as the leading Jewish scholar of Jesus and Early Christianity (Logos has a few of Flusser's books, check them out!)
Young has done a fabulous job of explaining a lot of the Jewish background to the NT that Gentile believes in Yeshua are not aware of. Be prepared to rethink a lot of the statements, stories, parables and theology of the NT after reading Brad Young.
