The ability to return resources online without having to call.

I'm a fan of ordering my resources online. I have the academic discount and I find it pointless to call in since they never can do better than that anyhow.

Anyway, I needed to return a book I bought. It was within the 30 day period. Since all (or the vast majority) of Logo's resources are sold digitally and since the monitoring system is automated, why couldn't I make this return online? Why does a real person have to do it for us?

If everything was automated, purchase-return, that would create one awesome free lending library! With humans involved there is less chance of abuse.

In theory a student could get their textbook, do the reading assignments, and return the textbook for full credit.

Monitoring and flagging suspicious behavior wouldn't be hard. Most people using Logos are honest people to begin with. There are, also, a number of ways in which Logos could limit such potential abuse, such as restricting the number of returns someone is able to perform, etc.

In theory, they can do this without an automated system too.

I dont think its a good idea. When I call to CS then I know that I am dealing with human and not with senseless computer. I carry responsibility and feel a little uncomfortable for my own action. If I could do it with a few clicks on a computer, I could flip books without feeling any responsibility and guilt.

Having so many students here, people would have so much temptation to buy books to finish their projects and then with one click return it...

Bottom line:  It would lead people into a temptation... It would cause some people to stumble....

Maybe not you Josh, but I know myself my fleshly smart human nature (sorry for being honest)

So the real issue is...my suggestion makes being dishonest easier to do.

On the practical side of things, those who don't live in the US and have difficulties calling - this would uncomplicate the process of returning a book.
