I just downloaded Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology from "Bits & Bytes Comptuer." I received a ESTAutoUpdate.lbxupd file, but cannot do anything with this. How do I get the book into my library? Thank you, Jesse
the .lbxupd is a Libronix update file, compatible with version 3. To use it you need Libronix installed. Run the update file and follow the instruction to install the book in the old version. Then, sync your licenses. Open Logos 4 and your new books should be discovered and downloaded in a little while. If, it doesn't type "update now" in the command line.
Hope this helps!
Thank you Kevin. I see insturctions like that here: http://www.bitsbytescomputer.com/store/customer/pages.php?pageid=131&cat=509. But b/c I have Logos 4, I cannot launch the file (at least not merely be clicking the file, even after manually associating Logos with that extension).
The reason why associating the file with Logos 4 does not work is that L4 is a complete rewrite from the previous version, Libronix. Did bitsbytes give you a serial number to use? If following these instructions is too much, you could call Logos customer support and then give them that number and they should be able to activate Grudem's book on your account. If you want to try to get it now keep reading.
1) You need to install Libronix from here http://www.logos.com/support/downloads/ldls
2) When you are setting it up, make certain you use the email address that Logos has on file for you.
3) Run the Libronix update code you got from bitsbytes and so on (see my first post)
I've installed Libronix, 3.0g. Things seemed promising, but when I go run the ESTAutoUpdate file, it hangs at 68%. It seems to be unable to download an "Ephesians Group (E4) Company File." Here is what it says:
Error code:7Failed to download file:ftp://LibronixAccess2:(password)@deliver.libronix.com/Download/LDLS/2004-06-15T20-56Z/Companies/e4.lbxcmp
There are a number of diagnostic steps to follow at http://www.logos.com/support/article/321 (please study the last comment for your case)
Jesse and Kevin:
Thank you for posting this question and reply. I was struggling with how to add a recent resource (Preacher's Commentary series) into Logos 4. I found your posts and was able to add it successfully. Thanks again for asking and sharing - it helped me and I appreciate it!
Merry Christmas!
Mark
Thank you Dave. I had found that, but when I go to the Logos website, I cannot find anywere to "Download Book File," any file, let alone the one that I bought: Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology.
Jesse, did you get Libronix installed and the license installed?
Try running this script.
http://www.logos.com/media/update/ResourceAutoUpdate.lbxupd
It should have Libronix check the ftp server for the book, if Libronix has the license on file. If it doesn't work, I would call tech support.
EDIT: If you want to use Logos 4, you shouldn't have to load the book file into Libronix. If you have the book file in your licenses Logos 4 should download automatically from the server.
I did try running the script. It does not work, and makes sense that it does not: so far, the book-update is not working. It gets to 68%, encounters the error I mention above, and then quits. Thus, I don't think that the license file is every getting downloaded (e.g., it would be downloaded after the file that cannot be downloaded). This is frustrating b/c instead of skipping the bad file, the whole process just aborts.
Has the Gruden's resource downloaded by the time you get to 68%? If so it will be in L3's download folder (I forget the name, but it is in the Libronix installation folder along with \Common and \Resources). You can move it to \Resources, open and close L3, then try the update script again.
Logos list the resource as 3.0 CD-ROM only so I don't know if it would be on the their FTP site. But you could download it if you knew the filename.
Hey Jesse,
Contact Logos support and tell them your situation, they can activate it for you and bypass the who version 3 struggle. The update script is busted and I wrestled with the same issue for 2 days before contacting support. Tried ever which way but Sunday to get the thing to download the necessary resources. Even put what was downloaded in the resource folder. To no avail.
Blessings,
Ray
Thanks 1Peter5. I'll give them a call. But I'm a little skeptical b/c, as Dave Hooton picked up on, the resource is available from a third part, and from their website via CD delivery. I do think that the book file did get downloaded, but I don't think that the license file did.
I do think that the book file did get downloaded, but I don't think that the license file did.
Check the folder I indicated above and follow the steps to move it to the Resource folder. Next time you run the update script it will not have to load the resource and the update might complete. Otherwise check with Bits&Bytes
Hey jesse,
If the steps Dave recommended do not work for you as they did not for me. Call Logos. I also got the download directly from BitBytes. And when I contacted Logos, I only gave them the order number and SKU I got from BitBytes and Logos activated the software right on the spot. Then the next time I started Logos4 it sync'd and the download began. Bypassed Logos3 all together. When you call Logos just have you order number availible.
Oh yeh... once you get this installed, you are going to love this resource. [;)]
