I guess with all this talk about the Ottawa valley, I should say that I too live in Kingston, Ontario, and spent a number of years in Almonte, just a few miles north of Carleton Place.
Longtime Logos user (more than $30,000 in purchases) - now a second class user because I won't pay them more every month or year.

When I was courting my first wife back in the late 1950's, attending Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, I used to take a train to Toronto, then a Canadian Train to Carleton Place, and got off there and hitchhiked over to Pembroke, Ontario on Highway 17 - The Trans-Canada Highway. The Steam Engine days were just over at that time in the United States and were coming to their end in Canada .....
Those were the days of the real, genuine steam engines! With coal, even! Wow! I remember Carleton Place fondly! *smile*
BTW - My first wife is still my present wonderful wife -- over 52 years later! *smile* Praise God!
Class G5c Pacific 1262 was built by the Canadian Locomotive Company of Kingston, Ontario, in November 1946, based on a very much modernized design of CPR light Pacifies that went back to 1906. Seen here at Ottawa West, the 1262 has less than two years left before her date with the scrapper in June 1961. What a shame these most modern of North American light Pacifies had such a short life span. Photo by John Frayne.
We're getting a little bit ahead of our story, however. On December 4th, 1959, PI class 2-8-2 5152, which had been working out of Ottawa West for some time, left, dead, on train No. 74 behind Alco diesel-electric "FA-1" unit 4002 in charge of, who else, Viau and Beaudry again for her date with destiny in Montreal. One little Tid Bit I remember about Leo. Viau was that he could put a steel soft drink bottle cap between his thumb and index finger and press it in half with no great effort. Try that one sometime! The following day G5 1267, another Ottawa West "resident", was ordered for 7:00 PM to handle a freight extra over to Smiths Falls, via the Carleton Place and Chalk River subs., with Charlie Weston as engineer and G. Gervais as fireman.So much history! I love it. And yes, call me Devin. "C" stands for Christopher, but no one really calls me that.

I know Almonte! My cousins lived in Almonte and Arnprior before settling in Carleton Place. As far as I know, my aunt still lives there. I doubt my cousins stayed in Carleton Place though.

Click here to tweet this story!Bellingham, Wash., November 6, 2013 — Nova Scotia native Greg Monette is partnering with U.S.-based Logos Bible Software to strengthen and encourage fellow Canadians in their Bible study efforts. Monette will serve as Logos’ ambassador to any church or ministry group wanting to explore ways to deepen biblical engagement or how to get the most from tools like Logos Bible Software, Proclaim Church Presentation Software, the Faithlife Study Bible and more.
“Outside the U.S., Canada is our largest customer base,” said Bob Pritchett, Logos’ president and CEO. “Greg Monette understands the church in Canada and will be able to represent us in person more often, helping us better serve our users there.”
A Ph.D. candidate at Trinity College, of the University of Bristol in the U.K., Monette is passionate about studying Scripture and helping bring it to life for others. “Helping people discover tools that really open the Bible up is even better than a great hockey playoff,” Monette said. “I am privileged and honored to serve as Logos Bible Software’s ambassador to my fellow Canadians.”
His role comes with new challenges for Logos — tasks Monette is already dispatching with enthusiasm. “We want to create a sense of community among Logos’ Canadian users, to come together and assist each other in our online forum,” Monette said. “We also want to increase the number of titles from Canadian authors, pastors and theologians in the Logos Bible Software library. We already have great books from authors like Gordon Fee, Craig A. Evans, Stanley Porter, J. I. Packer and D. A. Carson — along with several others — but we plan to see that list grow broader and deeper.” To accomplish this, Monette is building a mailing list of thousands of Canadian Logos users; presenting at ministry conferences; and inviting authors, publishers and pastors to publish their work using Logos.
“The Logos Bible Software resource library will soon have 40,000 titles in it,” Monette said. “A surprising number of those works were written by authors with deep but not well-known connections to Canada. I want to highlight this, draw attention to the intellectual gifts Canada has given to the world and help my fellow Canadians enjoy that same heritage using Logos Bible Software.”

One question though Greg...Since this is a specific email directed at Canadians why is honoured spelled honored? [;)] Actually it is interesting to note how many Canadians use US spelling anyway. We are being absorbed by the US culture! [;)]

Happy to see a Nova Scotian (as I am too), representing Canadians.
I am an Acadian and French speaking (at home), I see you have a French family name, are you also an Acadian?
I find the Logos bible software great, and a must for those who wants to study the original languages meaning!
For example, I find the original languages differing depending on the faith of the translators due to some traditions and doctrines of men which comes into their translations for the purpose of achieving a desired result, no fault of their own (there has been exceptions).
Unfortunately some fair translations will not find their way in the software for some reason, but hopefully will be offered in the future (I don’t mean any denomination translation).
I sometimes find it very helpful to have side by side the French translation, which I have, translated from the original language, which is closer grammatically to Greek.

He probably said it verbally and whoever wrote it down was not a Canadian and didn't know how to spell it the Canadian way.
But yeah, Canadians have been absorbing US spellings. I've noticed "center" spelled the US way a number of times up here, even on business names occasionally, I think.
