We're considering switching to Proclaim for our church's presentation software since we recently used PowerPoint to build a presentation for a Christmas program which turned out to be a huge mistake. I may be appointed as our media ministry director to handle the next program.
Here's another issue that I'm wondering how we can overcome it.
Our projectors aren't currently permanent fixtures in the church as of now, so they're not wired into a video system. How we used them for the Christmas program was placed them on a table on the front row and had them project on two large screens on stands. It worked OK, but the issue was the slide switcher computer was also on the front row, and the slide switcher had to sit there and control the slides. I felt it was a little distracting to the program.
I'd rather move the slide switching controlling to the back of the church, possibly at the sound board, so as to not distract the church when controlling the slides.
The projectors currently connect to computers over VGA, and we have a VGA splitter as well. The church used a Windows PC to control the slides, but I also have a MacBook Pro, and I'm considering picking up an Apple TV to AirPlay content to it.
Here's my question...
I know the Apple TV connects over HDMI. Is there a an adapter I can get to go from HDMI to VGA that I could run into the splitter into the projectors, allowing me to move the MacBook Pro to the back of the of the church and keep it at the soundboard? Or is there a better way to pull this off?
Another option would be to keep the Mac up front hard wired into VGA (and try to "hide" it so the screen isn't distracting) and wirelessly control it with an iPhone or iPad running the Proclaim app.
What's the best way we could pull all this off?
Also, I'm not sure if the church has a Wi-Fi network currently since it's an older church, and if we do, the signal may not reach into the sanctuary since the office is pretty far down the hall. I could create a temporary wireless network using my iPhone's Mobile Hotspot (it doesn't cost extra nor pull from my data plan since I'm on T-Mobile). Would that work to wirelessly connect everything if we don't have Wi-Fi?
Thanks!
