Hi,

I have tried searching for this info and have not found any answers.  May be to my not constructing the proper search criteria.

How can I find out the number of times a word occurs in a Bible, etc.?

For example:  How many times does the word "Holy" occur in Matthew or the Gospels or Paul's writings, etc.

Thanks in advance for the help.

    1. Open a search panel
    2. Click on Bible search if it’s in a Bible
    3. Click the magnifying glass and check or uncheck the “match all word forms” (uncheck for just the word holy)
    4. Select your search criteria (the blue colored text-can enter the entire Bible such as here or books of the Bible)
    5. Enter your search term (holy for this example)
    6. View the results under the term
    7. Choose your view (grid-verses-aligned-analysis)

    Happy searching and Merry Christmas!

  • How many times does the word "Holy" occur in Matthew

Hovering mouse pointer over results bar in Bible Word Study (BWS) shows "Holy" occurs 10 times in Matthew in the AV 1873 Bible:

Clicking on BWS results opens graph in another tab; one option is a results map that shows density of occurrences.

There are books which list the frequency of Greek or Hebrew words down to a certain level (generally about 10 times); e.g.

Landes, George M. Building Your Biblical Hebrew Vocabulary: Learning Words by Frequency and Cognate. Vol. 41. Resources for Biblical Study. Atlanta, GA: Society of Biblical Literature, 2001.

Van Voorst, Robert E. Building Your New Testament Greek Vocabulary. Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans, 1990.

If you're interested in English, that depends on your translation.

Thank you so much but I am new in the Word and also want to know but where do you go to do what you have asked? What website or app to do need to be in to follow your instructions. I just saw this response via a Google search.
