Proclaim version 1.21 (Beta)

The next version of Proclaim has a few major changes so we've decided to release an opt-in beta to get some feedback before releasing it to the world. I encourage you to give it a shot and look forward to hearing your feedback.
What’s new?
- Slide Rendering – We rewrote the slide rendering code to make it cross platform (Mac and Windows), ensuring identical layout and rendering on each platform.
- Installer – We are moving away from the antiquated and unreliable ClickOnce installer technology to a more traditional Windows installer. This change should eliminate the corrupt installation problem that has been plaguing Proclaim users on Windows.
- .NET Framework Update – The installer change makes it easy for us to upgrade to newer versions of the .NET framework. The beta moves from .NET 3.5 to .NET 4.5, performed automatically by the installer. This should provide performance increases as well as allow us to take advantage of new features in the framework.
- UI Refresh – We’ve given the UI a bit of a makeover, moving towards a more modern and flat look. The timeline has been moved beneath the order of service to provide more horizontal space.
- Bible Language – All Bible reference parsing and rendering is now Bible language aware. For example, if you’re using the Spanish RVR Bible then you can now enter “Juan 1.1”. Not only will the reference be parsed correctly but it will also be displayed as “Juan 1.1”.
- On Screen Bible Quick Screen – We’ve added a new quick screen which renders a Bible reference entered on the fly using the OSB service item.
- On Screen Bible Show Version – Added setting to On Screen Bible service items to optionally show the Bible version, similar to Bible service items.
- Customizations Preserved – Change to preserve service item customization when changing backgrounds.
- Delete Songs – Added right click context menu to song entry helper, allowing users to remove songs from their My Songs section.
- Pre-Service Loop – Changed navigation logic to advance past the pre-service loop when user manually navigates. Automatic playback will continue to loop until the appropriate time (dependent on the service start time).
Bug Fixes
- On Screen Bible – Fixed some issues related to improperly constructed reference display text.
- Toast – Fixed bug causing dismissed toast message from reappearing.
Known Issues
- Flat UI – This was a major change and there is still quite a few tweaks that need to be done. We’d like to hear about major usability issues but are aware of and are still working through some of the minor inconsistencies related to this change.
Should I uninstall the old version?
No, the beta will install side by side along the current shipping version (1.20). You won’t be able to run them concurrently, but you’ll be able to switch back and forth without any issues.
Can I use it to go on air during a live service?
Yes, but we don’t recommend it. We encourage testing going on air and as far as we know there aren’t any major showstopper bugs, but it’s probably not worth the risk to use the beta during a live service.
Can I run the beta on Windows XP?
No, the upgrade to .NET 4.5 is not supported by Windows XP.
Will the beta update automatically?
Yes, and frequently. During the beta period we expect to be shipping updates every few days. These will be required updates. Once we move out of beta we’ll transition back to the “most updates optional” behavior.
How will I tell which version I’m running?
The shortcut for the beta version will be “Proclaim - Beta” while the older version will remain “Proclaim”. You can also use Help > About menu to check the version.

We're done with the beta, thanks for participating. If you're on Windows the beta will automatically upgrade to the main version. If you're on Mac please delete the beta version from your Applications folder and use the main version of Proclaim.
