BUG 5.2a RC1: Almost blank Library

The first time this happened, I had sorted by some column I hadn't sorted by before during that session, and then quickly scrolled down a long way. It took a loooong time for the text and images to appear.

The second time, I had sorted by Rating (which I also hadn't done before). I don't remember if I scrolled, but I do remember that I had to sit waiting for over a minute -- which is an awful lot too long.

The third time, as you can see, I had sorted by Edition, filtered for 'edition:e', and expanded. I gave up after about five minutes, when it still looked like this.

The first two don't seem repeatable once the grid has populated once, but the third is. Could be related to BUGS 5.2a RC1: Edition column.

Note: I'm repeating it as I write and Logos is only using 600 MB of RAM, I have almost 1 GB free, and there isn't much CPU activity going on.

I had a similar problem in beta but that was fixed on PC.

And that revealed an artifact that is documented here.

Could this be yet another difference between 10.6 and 10.9? My library appears instantly for every sort field while scrolling up and down 7500+ resources, including the Most Used column which I had never displayed before.

    Very possible.

(Just bumping, really, as this is the most urgent of the bugs I've found in RC1 so far.[:)])

    EDIT:

They are after a restart, though. I just checked.

I'm able to somewhat reproduce this in 10.9 with the Edition column. Not to the lengths you mentioned, but definitely slower than it should be. I'll make a case.

Keep in mind we testers don't work on weekends, so we've only been at work for a few hours (and we have other responsibilities). This bump was a little premature, as I was already testing it before you bumped. [;)] We are getting through them! [:)]

    Thanks.

I am very much aware of that, and I don't normally bump this fast (and virtually never on weekends), but I was nervous that you'd suddenly release the RC to stable tomorrow, without even reading this bug report first. I've had too many experiences where cases have been written for my least important bugs, and then those "other responsibilities" have taken over, and the most important ones have been left unread until after the stable release, and sometimes for months. I am the first to wish it wasn't so, but I've had to learn all sorts of tricks to get bug reports noticed.

Yes, you have indeed become much better at that since I bought Logos 3.5 years ago, but given past experiences I'm afraid it will take some time before I start trusting you to always read every bug report without bumps.

Fixed in SR 1, as BUGS 5.2a RC1: Edition column was fixed.

The long display times seem to remain.
