Supported OS X Versions

As of June 16, 2014 Proclaim will no longer support OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) and OS X Lion (10.7). The change in OS X version support will allow us to make Proclaim even better!

Increased stability with 64 bit support. Proclaim is a memory intensive application and the lack of virtual address space inherent in 32 bit applications has been limiting Proclaim since day one.
New and improved Apple APIs for features like video playback. By moving to 10.8 and above we'll be able to use the new features without tracking multiple versions of the Proclaim codebase. This will speed Proclaim development and allow us to ship you more high quality features faster.

Based on our research the OS X upgrade for most 10.6 and 10.7 users should be either free or $20. We'll be tracking OS X version usage and listening to your feedback in the coming days. Please reply back to this thread or give customer service a call at 800-875-6467 if you have any questions.

Im am glad for the upgrade......BUT I have an older Mac running Snow Leopard and I use Proclaim for my WHOLE service!!!!!!!!!!!! Please do not penalize us for this!

Yeah, I can not update my software so I'm now needing to upgrade my hardware...not simply "because" of Logos, but several other software updates that have been pushed out are no longer friendly to OS 10.6.8. My Macbook is from 2008, so it was just a matter of time.

Looking forward to the update and upgrade and the functionality it will bring.

So...I have Mavericks on my laptop and desktop...but OS 10.7 is the latest Apple release for my Ipad? Does this mean we will no longer have the ability to control the presentation from our devices?

Note the difference between OS X and iOS. :-)

Please stop forcing us to upgrade from stable OS versions. The computer we use for my church is my personal computer and is currently running an OS that is also running ProTools 9. If we upgrade our OS, Avid will no longer support us if we use an OS version they have not qualified. I have invested thousands to my personal recording / audio production business so I am asking that you PLEASE STOP! Our church can not afford a new computer and you have already crushed their spirits by rendering their XP computer worthless. This church puts their money into helping those in their local community and with the recession in the US they do not have the funds to be held financially hostage by pointless upgrade requirements for a presentation software they have liked, but are liking less and less every week. You folks need to toss a bone to the little guys who can't afford the equipment to keep up with these OS upgrade demands. Everything is stable right now, you folks really do not need to do this.

I understand your frustrations but we need to remember that if everything is stable now then there is not reason for it to change.

All you need to do is stick with what you have.

The only thing that you will be missing out on is improvements to the system that rely on a new OS. If you do not want a new OS then obviously those improvements won't be available to you.

If, on the other hand things are not stable at the moment there is a period now when you can pressurise for existing bugs to be ironed out.

My seven year old car is essentially worthless on the open market - it is valuable to me because it works and I do not have to replace it. It lacks many modern facilities but it functions the way it did when I bought it. Is this different for your XP computer?

The only thing that you will be missing out on is improvements to the system that rely on a new OS. If you do not want a new OS then obviously those improvements won't be available to you.

Unfortunately users will not be able to continue to use the old version indefinitely. Proclaim is a collaboration tool and in order to support new features and data schemas work for all users we must ensure they are running a recent version. This is why we periodically (few times a year) release a required update. To back port all new features to branches supporting XP and older versions of OS X would be a huge undertaking and really slow the product down.

I too use a Macbook Pro 2006 for our Proclaim computer and cannot afford to upgrade. I only have 11 days left according to the software to use it. Thats insane. I understand improving the product, but I have been happy with it has is. I guess, I will have to look at Media Shout or Easy worship.

I feel really bad when we drop support for an old OS, but we have to do it sometimes or else give up the ability to do new stuff and to support the majority of users who do upgrade.

We try hard to not drop any OS release until it's under 3% of users, and until something about the newer platforms requires us to make a choice. (In other words we never drop an OS version intentionally -- we do it when newer OS releases have features that can't be back ported and which can't be used while staying compatible with the old one.)

And sometimes the lack o vendor support and susceptibility to viruses, etc., means everybody should move on. (I'm looking at you, Windows XP....)

I know buying a new machine is expensive, but one idea to consider is buying an old machine -- just not as old as the one you have. For example, a 2006 Mac is really ancient... But a used 2008 or 2010 machine is 'less ancient' and could be pretty cheap.

(And if you just need a machine for running the presentation at church, a Windows 7 generation laptop can easily be found for well under $100... or maybe even free, if you ask around the church.)

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience; we'll try to do this as infrequently as possible.

Hey so i am late in the game, just got hired at a new church (my church is using proclaim) and have an old Macbook Pro that wont support the latest software update - i have Lion 10.7 - is it possible to download an older version of proclaim so that i can use it from my computer?

Sorry I'm so late in replying. Unfortunately no, the older versions of the app will be incompatible when we introduce new data formats.
