Is there a simpler way? Christian Aid Week Presentation

There must be a simpler way?

1. Down load Christian Aid Week Presentation in Powerpoint.

2. Open in Keynote

3 Save first three slides as Keynote Presentation

4 Export to ppx file (changing the file from pptx to ppt on the way.

5 Import first three slides to Proclaim

6 Repeat every time a hymn or reading needs to be inserted in the Presentation.

All I want to do is break up an 'Image Slide Show' into segments.

Surely I am missing something?

Edit Even this doesn't work - this file imports 3 blank slides.

Proclaim does not currently support dividing up images slideshows. I believe the thinking here was it's not how we intend/want users to use the application. However, you're not the first to request this, I can bring it up for discussion again.

In your case I would propose simplifying the workflow by not going back to ppt

Edit Even this doesn't work - this file imports 3 blank slides.

I was able to import the attached presentation without issue. Is it possible that the "blank slides" are a result of synced local file content?

Ok First I forgot about the post at near the top of the forum that talks about text not showing on Mac's - this seems to be unpredictable because I can import the native file downloaded from the Christian Aid Site but not mini files exported in ppt or pptx from Keynote.

Ok but the text looks awful when presented by this method.

I have found a work round though which is time consuming but will have to do for this Christian Aid Week.

1. Import the whole power point file.

2. Duplicate 10 or so times.

3. Delete all the slides that you don't want at various times in the service.

4. Try and explain to the wife why you are up half the night trying to make technology work for you. :-(

I don't believe that post is relevant and should be removed. Version 1.21 included a significant update to Aspose, the third party tool we use to import PowerPoint presentations. AFAIK this is the first report we've received of issues on Mac with the new version. I'm not sure we tested saving as ppt or pptx from Keynote though.

I'm surprised Keynote would not do a good job exporting as images. Does the text in the image itself (not in Proclaim) look bad? Are there quality/resolution settings in the export? Exporting as images from Keynote and PowerPoint has been our best workaround in the past. The quality has always been excellent and the layout always matched the view in the native application, which has not always been the case when using the third party import tool.
