Everything was fine last night. What happened? I have 4.0a SR-2.
First thing to check is if the re-indexing from the download is complete. Look for the Logos icon in your tray.
Thanks, MJ, but that's not it. Update reindexing finished yesterday. I added one resource last night but haven't merged indexes yet for that one.
I restarted so I could get a log - here it is for whenever you Logos guys get back to work. [:)]

Pam,
i am not a Logos guy, but thought of possible questions/suggestions.
1) are you opening Biblical Places inside the L4 main window or into a floating window?
2) Have you tried rebooting your computer?
CONFIRMED
I'm seeing this from the Passage Guide. Those options are 'greyed out' But the 'Handout' still works, which uses some of the same resources.
Odd.
Richard,
Don't know if this helps you isolate the problem, but i have 4.0aSR2 and did not update my resources for the newer RI's. The Biblical People work in My Passage Guide as shown below. If there is something i could try on my system to help you help Pam, let me know and i will try it.
I'm seeing this from the Passage Guide.
Mine is still working as well - I would suspect some error in indexing but Logos may have to become involved. Note my NASB interlinear is fine, too.
I just got done today downloading the latest update and my BP and BP aren't working either...
or the NASB int....
Note my NASB interlinear is fine, too.
Did you update to the newer Reverse Interlinear?
My NASB interlinear isn't working either!
Thanks for all the input. I will reboot now and see what happens.
Computer facts for Logos guys:
HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC, x64-based, AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-72, MS Windows Vista Home Premium.
I just posted a bug report
Your icon in the upper left looks like the icon for a custom Guide. What happens if you use the standard one?
If you get good results with the standard guide, the issue could be indexing. If you don't, there's a problem with the Guide.
What happens if you use the standard one?
Tried it with the standard guide, they work there too
Tried both the People & Places using the guide started as shown above. They both work.
Okay, will have to try rebuilding the index. Maybe that will fix the issue with the NASB95 Rev Int too.
I'll report back when it's done.
Robert P. above tried pulling down the Nasb95 again this morning and it did not restore the RI working for him. So you might want to hold off re-indexing???
Mine are greyed out in MPG + PG. Picture below. SR2.
This is beginning to look like a bug. Can anyone else confirm?
Back from rebooting - didn't help.
I first noticed the problem because I had Biblical Places open in a floating window when I shut down last night. This morning that window said something like Resources Unavailable.
When I right-click on a place name in my Bible (Damascus in Acts 9:2 - tried both NASB and NRSV) Places does not show up in the right-click menu.
When I go to the Tools menu all 3 items under Bible Facts are grayed out.
When I run default Passage Guide or My Passage Guide Biblical People, Places and Things are all grayed out.
I must not be living right like most of the folks who are posting error messages like this one. This is another one I cannot replicate. I've tried 10-15 of the postings and all works well here. I'm using an HP Pavilion Elite e9220y with an AMD Phenom II X4 910 Processor 2.60GHz, 8GB RAM, Windows 7 64-bit. Here's what my L4 shows when trying to replicate the problem:
I'm trying to figure out how to help, but if I cannot replicate the problem I'm just useless.... [:P]
God bless
{charley}
Later edit: And I have all the latest updates, as well.
I'm wondering if the problems today (Biblical People/Places/Things, NASB Interlinear, missing LXX) have anything to do with the recent message "Beta licenses expiring"?
I was a beta tester until the official 4.0 release. Were those of you having the same problems also beta testers?
Richard, Robert P. above tried pulling down the Nasb95 again this morning and it did not restore the RI working for him. So you might want to hold off re-indexing???
Okay, finished re-indexing (via rebuild index) and I still have the problem, with both the NASB95 rev int not displaying any text in the rev int window, and the Bible People/Places/Things showing 'greyed out.'
I also notice that the LEB, the NKJV, and the CPB (Cambridge Paragraph KJV) are missing their rev int information as well.
I also ran update now and everything appeared up to date.
Then I ran update resources and it is now pulling down 1.45GB of new data. I'll report back, or edit this post when it finishes to see if it worked.
EDIT & UPDATE: Update resources finished and Now the rev int's above are completely broken. The NASB & LEB still show a blank rev int window, the NKJV and CPB-KJV don't even show the rev int window anymore. For all 4 of these the visual filter doesn't show either. It looks like the link between the rev int and English resource is corrupted somehow. Maybe I need to rebuild the index again. Maybe that won't do anything. Maybe I'll wait until tomorrow and see what tech support has to say.
Richard, interesting. I've been checking my system for these RI problems as people have been reporting them today and I haven't had the problem. I did do "update resources" earlier today and it did not find anything so hopefully this big download will fix whatever problem you're having.

I wouldn't rebuild, Rich. It's about time Logos told us what is happening.

+1
I ran an Update Resources and it downloaded 1.26GB including the DBs of people/places/things but they are still in my Downloaded folder. Seemingly L4 will not transfer them over to the resources folder. Obviously SR-3 is required and soon.

Same thing here. Hope Logos gets this fixed soon.

Yes I was a beta tester. When did you see the licenses expiring, and are you sure they weren't the licenses for some of the L3 addins we were also testing?
The messages had shown up in Logos 3. There were a few other threads posted about it. Here's what my Logos 3 says now:
This is probably just a coincidence. I'm grasping at straws here. [:P]
But if the problem only affects beta testers that would narrow it down.
For what it's worth, I'm another one who is NOT having problems with SR-2 - Biblical People/Places/Things are working as well as the NASB interlinear. I installed all the updates over the last couple of days and the only problem I have in not being able to generate a right-click search in the NLT interlinear (though can do so from surface text).
UPDATE: I changed my computer date to Dec 2, 2009 and I get all my functionality back.
(also turned off the function that automatically updates the clock via internet.)

I can confirm this works for me too. Ugh. I don't know whether to be happy (that I can get functionality back) or annoyed (that this is obviously some kind of date coding problem that should have been fixed).
Rich - thanks for posting that! You certainly are working hard to help everyone!!
Ok, this is even weirder. If I change my date back to the current date while Logos is still open, all functionality is fine. But if I close and then re-open, the troublesome functionality is back to lost.
It's like some kind of toggle switch thrown by the system date. It is very curious, since the LXX shows as missing or found depending on the date of the system clock.
Now back to finishing my sermon on Daniel 7:9-14. [^o)]
changed my computer date to Dec 2, 2009 and I get all my functionality back.
Yeah - same here.
Precisely 12:00AM Pacific Time is the culprit:

Woo-hoo! Thanks Rich. [:D]
One nice little side effect - I'm no longer 5 days behind on my reading plan. [:P]
This is evidence of a bug in the license file introduced during beta testing; to work around it, please see my post at http://community.logos.com/forums/p/8660/69429.aspx#69429
