Intriguing... originally described as an "ecumenical council" now wording revised to an "ecumenical meeting" between Catholic and Orthodox leaders, marking 17 centuries since the Council of Nicea.

or 11.5 centuries since the Council of Constantinople 879-800 that debated the filioque that was a major element in the division between the Catholics and the Orthodox. http://orthodoxwiki.org/Eighth_Ecumenical_Council (No, the Western Church has little defense for their procedure on this matter). Ironically this was a reunification council.
Now, if we can get the Oriental Orthodox to show up in 2025.

A little advanced planning in order to hit a historically significant date. Given that almost all of the Oriental Orthodox could reunite with either Eastern Orthodox or Catholics, I surely hope they are invited too. Hey, the church moves slowly.

While the Ecumenical Movement is a powerful tool to promote peace on earth. It can be most counter-productive concerning the message of salvation.
I became involved with a food pantry that was sponsored by a non-denominational church. Wonderful people ... Loving, compassionate. I eventually sat in on a couple of the worship services there. I was depressed for weeks. The pastor was totally ham strung. He could not make a stand on any one issue for fear of offending one of the many views his congregation held. It was the most pitiful, watered down, lukewarm messaging I have ever heard. The pastor eventually had to resign and establish a Church with a clear belief system. Satan has been very successful fragmenting the Church. Each denomination having their own pet doctrine. Making theirs the only true message. I fear 11 years is a very optimistic outlook for reunification.

It probably got deleted automatically. When someone deletes their own post, they can choose the option to "delete children" as well, which will cause any replies to their post to get deleted. Such replies wouldn't make sense out of context without the post they were replying to. Also, if they'd quoted a good chunk of the post the user was trying to delete, it makes sense to delete those as well.

There are already joint statements (Eastern Orthodox/Oriental Orthodox; Catholic/Oriental Orthodox) agreeing that the original Christological disagreements are no longer held. Doctrinally, there are no impediments to reunion. Depending on your choice of theologian, there were 3-12 issues separating the Orthodox and Catholics when Pope Pius VI and the Patriarchs of Constantinople and Jerusalem began talking - resulting in the Catholic-Orthodox Joint declaration of 1965. There was some speculation shortly before Pope Pius VI died that reunification was near - the main obstacles being political and cultural. Consultations have continued on the issues ever since. So reunification is very optimistic but distinctly possible.

Only in the West - the Oriental church has only one significant branch not in communion with the others; the Eastern (Byzantine) has none.
