Logos 4 Icon in Menu Bar

I am curious if anyone else has this issue, which i am not sure is causing a problem, but does limit my ability to know what is going on.

My Blue L4, icon in the menu bar has not done much since installing A6 or A7. If I hover over it it says, Logos Software is downloading updates (0% of 159 MB remaining.)

I had no problem downloading A8 or A9, except I did a resources update and I'd like to know what the computer is doing.

Does anyone have a clue how i could get my icon to function properly. Not a big deal, but you know ....Thanks,

Hi Rus,

Have you checked your logs to see if any download or indexing is running? If not, follow the first 2 steps in Joe's post here How To Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac - Tutorial w/ VIDEO Then click on logos4.log. This will start the console app on your Mac and allow you to see what is happening. If you need more assistance post the log here so the development team can take a look. Might even get one of the more experienced forum members to take a look and give you some direction.

Mark, thanks for responding. I put in a command for resource update at 10 AM and it is still downloading resources. Except for taking time L4 is working, I am simply curious why my icon is not working properly.

I think others have reported the "downloader" getting stuck at 0%. You can simply Cancel the downloading by clicking on the icon and clicking "Cancel Download". When you restart the app, the download should start again. I think the problem has to do with the code for the downloader doesn't correctly time out if there is a problem getting the file. It's something we devs need to look into eventually.

Hitting "Cancel downloading" worked. It cleared the icon. On start-up L4 A9 did a brief download. It is now indexing with information being revealed when I hover over the icon. Looks like this solved this particular problem.

When downloading and indexing are complete, the icon should disappear from the Menu Bar. It indicates that the Indexer is running. To see if indexing is complete, run a few test searches of your library.

Thank you. I thought the Blue Icon was a permanent companion. I liked it up in the menu bar, but it does make sense that it disappears. It's like church, if you do it (or see it once) it's a tradition that cannot be changed.
