I have several suggestions:
- imagine there is a separate "mytag editor" view or window that displays nothing but and works with nothing but mytags. I believe it would be beneficial to have for several reasons: Workflow efficiency and ability to batch edit/ import mytags. Current stable implementation of mytags is good and I appreciate all of the features that developers added. However, there are too many clicks needed right now to work with it. I have to sort Library by mytags (click 1). Then I have to select a resource (click 2). I then click on the needed mytag (click3) and update it (click4). Meanwhile the Library View snaps to the beginning and I have lost my place. I have to (click 5) scroll to the needed place and start again.
if we had a separate, nothing but mytags listing window, one could simply Right-click on a tag (click1) and select from the following menu:
- Remove this tag from selected resource(s)
- Edit this tag
- Create Tag (effectively adds this tag to resources, if any are selected)
- Create tag inside <name of mytag>
- Delete
- about nested mytags. I believe this is a killer feature with SOME types of tags. I.e. with Theology designations. If we are dealing with a resource on Amillenialism, it definitely falls under the category of Eschatology, that is in itself a division of Theology... So next time I tag a book(s) with "Amillenialism," Logos AUTOMATICALLY adds tags "Eschatology" and "Theology" to my resource(s). The essence of Any good cataloging system is nesting. Right now I need to manually tag resources 3 times (more if nesting has more layers).
- Link synonyms with mytags. I understand, since they are MYtags, I am more or less consistent in naming tags, however, this is one place where Logos can harness the power of its Controlled Vocabulary by suggesting equivalent tags to be associated with mytags in the "Edit tag" dialog:
lets say I have mytag "Evangelism." I can provide synonyms "outreach" and "visitation." (Or it could be Communion, Lord's Supper, Eucharist, etc.) This would be invaluable for searching later. The best part is that when we edit the master tag itself, Logos can add synonym mytags to all resources tagged by the master tag.
- Ability to EXPORT/import tagging (i am talking about mytag-resource association) and share it with (or sell to) others.
or
at least ability to Export/import the list of mytags (keywords in essence), which would standardize one's cataloging. This is especially valuable with nested mytags.
