That would be helpful. Anyone who has been blocked in the past, please post your current IP address (http://www.whatismyip.com/) so we can check our logs for it. Update: And if you remember about what time the connection started failing, that would also be useful information.

(I know IPs can be assigned dynamically, but if enough people post an IP address we should be able to get matches on some of them.)

The way to get around the penalty wait is to reboot the pc. Using Windows.

Not for me. Not even rebooting the PC and using a different user-id (and anonmous mode on Google Chrome) worked. Perhaps you obtained a different IP address after reboot.

(I'm writing from another PC on a totally different network)

Now that you mention it, I could not log onto their website. Thought it was my router acting up.

Not comfortable doing this. Can we email it, and if so what is the email address?

66.64.120.85 is the address of my connection that Logos isn't responding to.

It started failing around 9:40a Central Time.

According to your tool my IP is 80.128.2.2 - my connection failed directly after the post above, which should give you a good timestamp.

EDIT: this would be about 15:44 my time (CEST) equivalent to 6:44 your time.

See screenshots of the Win7 resource monitor, showing network connections prior to and during my penalty. It seems, invoking the New Preview asked some other servers than usual. Tracert looks entirely the same before and after. Note that the screenshots are automatically time-stamped by Jing and thus should allow reconciling them with the Logos.log

Thanks everyone for the helpful feedback. We apologise for the inconvenience of being unable to access Logos sites. The problem on our end should be corrected, and accessing a resource preview shouldn't cause this disconnection problem any more.

If you still have problems accessing Logos.com, and the problems started after 8:25am PST (about the time of this post), please reply here.

Okay, my technical side is curious. Can you share what caused it?

BTW, I'm still unable to connect on the original IP.  I guess my hour of no-communication isn't up yet?  Okay, I'm back in now.

Bookstore suggests nothing but Spanish books for humility topic.

This has probably been mentioned before, but the bookstore should not be suggesting foreign language books. It should know my default language. Perhaps there could be an option to suggest foreign language books for people who want that, but the default should be not to.

The intended behavior is to list other language resources after your selected language. In this case, you apparently already own all English resources which provide relevant data for that search.

IIRC, we don't want to completely exclude foreign language books (for multilingual users - they'd have to swap UI languages to see other resources), but we absolutely do prioritize your selected language.

OK, then how about a user-settable options to exclude foreign language books. I'd rather see that section empty than have any Spanish books in it. Frankly I'm probably not your target audience for that feature, though, as I'm probably going to keep it off all the time. I already have most of the books you sell that I'd ever want to buy. So feel free to ignore suggestions like this from me. [;)]

No, please DON'T ignore Rosie's suggestion. Add my request for the same. [:)]

I thought of an actual GOOD use for that feature.  A VERY good use.  It is not to include it in guides.

The good use is to include it as an OPTION in the Library.

But, make it a tool for the user and not a marketing abuse by logos.

Often I have searched for something in my library and wish I had a quick way to find it in the bookstore.  There is no more likely place I will start hunting for  Logos book than the Library.  Never will I start looking for a book or be influenced to buy one from a Guide.  When I have a guide open, I am not shopping, I am going gang busters working.

I agree, Gao.  First, I rarely use the tools. I don't buy monster libraries that I've no idea what's included.  But quite often I'm in my library and see I've no resource on X-Y-Z.

Which introduces my next already mentioned point, being  .... 'Why doesn't the Logos.com search have a more sophisticated ability matching Logos5?'  Everytime I use Google, up pops Google books.  I just can't buy them.

This remains a big mystery.  Logos has the lookup/search ability at their fingertips.  A huge market (vs the tiny group in L5 tools).

Maybe publishers are reluctant to have customers locating their religious books and potentially buying them.  Usually it's a publisher issue.

I've decided Bookstore in the guides is a good thing after all. I favor it.  So long as it is optional.
