Three Sundays - Three complete freezes of Proclaim

A sorry tale:

For the last 3 Sundays, we have lost the ability to control Proclaim, either remotely or on the laptop feeding the projector.

our service beings at 10am. Up to 09:58 all is fine, then the software freezes, becoming unresponsive

the odd thing about this is that two mins after the end of the service, all returns to normal, and we can use Proclaim again.

could this be something to do with the congregation logging on with their Faithlife etc apps?

We use an ipad to control the presentation remotely, when it works and isn't frozen.

I'm sorry to hear about the troubles you've been experiencing. There was a bug in the initial 1.24 release which could result in "hangs" when network connectivity was interrupted. It was resolved on the update shipped September 2. What version of Proclaim are you running? Are you on Windows or Mac?

Hi

We always take the update so the Windows 7 laptop concerned is on the latest version of Proclaim. I'm not at the church and so I can't give you the numbers.

See the Error logs below (Sorry for the multiple copies, it kept coming up with a "Sorry there is a server error" each time I tried to upload the files, but it seems that they went through anyway.

One question: Could this sluggishness/freezing be something to do with Port access? Does Proclaim need certain ports opening in order to ease the traffic?

I noticed that when the playback went sluggish again this morning, the "Trying to contact the server" error box appeared. We still had full internet access at the time. We are in the UK, in case that makes any difference. Is 10 am on a Sunday a bottleneck on the servers?

There aren't any known server issues at this time so that should not make a difference. I would like you to try to disable hardware acceleration. If you cannot reproduce any crash or sluggishness w/ video playback when hardware acceleration is disabled, then we can narrow it down to being a video driver issue.

You will be able to do this by downloading the file here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hzopard11g3ktna/DisableHWAcceleration.reg.RENAME

Once this file is downloaded, rename it from 'DisableHWAcceleration.reg.RENAME' to 'DisableHWAcceleration.reg'. After this is done, double click the file and it will create and enable the correct registry key. After doing this, restart your computer.

Please report back to us if you can or cannot reproduce this behavior after following the previous steps. Also, if you could provide us with full system specs (including info on your video card) that would be very helpful.

No this is not the case.

I'm not a proclaim user or a network expert, but something like this happens in church I go to with various apps. They can establish a wifi connection, but requests over the connection are refused or time out (or something like that). Youversion crashes like crazy. One solution is to set aside a separate router, on a private network, for church equipment & personnel. I don't know if this the issue or not; Just a drive-by, wild guess.

Hey guys, sorry for the thread derail - I am getting that same "sorry there is a server error" anytime I try to post (without an attachment). So you probably have a web issue going on. The post does go through though...
